Both clubs have computer linked turnstiles and the total announced is actual people that pass through free tickets and all. the practise of including all seasons whether they turn up or not has now ceased and only season ticket holders who actually pass through the turnstiles are counted. Some corporates may or may not be included but everyone on the terraces is counted including freebies. Its a requirement in the Sportsground license.

Last time we got an attendance in SL below 10k was July 2006, so approx 60 games ago.

if the club are honest about the attendance then i will say 8700ish but i think just over 10000 will be announced

I really hope that this attendance is sub 10K because that will make a serious statement and properly reflect the general apathy of the fans. I won't be there and I honestly hope that many more do the same !

Even though it would have a detrimental effect on the club in the long run.

Yeah lets inflate our attendances and when the taxman asks why are we saying we only had 8000 in on Friday the 4th of March 2011 when in the public records you state you had 12,000 attending.

Hello - I'm not a proper fan either but I wont be there tomorrow - I have been around as a fan for a lot of years - people dont like to hear from us oldies it sounds like boasting saying how long you have supported. Im having a night off tomorrow - really hope we win but I am so bored with what we see at the moment.
I know its not what people want to hear but I have loved my club for 50 + years and have seen some awful Rugby but I cant take much more of boredom because thats what it is - lose yes but dont bore me while you are doing it. Entertainment please. Will only miss this game - this is my protest.

You must have been splitting your side in 2002 then, with lows of 5,303 and NO attendance over 10k, unless of course you are either too young to remember or you buy into the hype you have never had a below 10k gate since you were formed in 653 bc

and ours, wonder how many other pass holders will give this game a miss??

When will people realise that "the tax man" will be looking at income from the gate, not how many are through it

As i have told people on here the gate "announced" is not the number of people in the stadium watching the game, that comes from the police box, there is a VDU in there wich displays "clicks" through the gate, other sales (non attending passholders & gold area) are then added to this

Thinking about it logically, as long as the total of all announced gates during the season matches up with income declared then HMRC should be happy. Not sure how it would work with the voucher system though, as some people would effectively be counted twice when entering through the turnstile with their voucher.

There must be some way of adding in folk who don't pass through the turnstiles - they'll need the actual number of people inside the stadium for safety reasons.

So if a pass holder doesn't go to the game they will still be included in the attendance??? That's a bit weird if true! Surely it should just go on clicks through the turnstiles plus members in the west stand that didn't get their "click"

Why would they lie about the true attendance? I know attendances are a rough average as you cannot get it spot on but it should be more accurate. Am I right or am I missing something here?
