You can keep Sisters of Mercy and U2.
BC back in the day before the expiry of Stuart Adamson would have been worthy of a gander.

That's true enough. I'm off out in a bit so expect the list of "attacks/insults" I have made to await me when I get back then I can apologise and we can all move on.

| Quote ="Mrs Barista"I hear you, but it frustrates me (actually that's probably a bit strong) that people slate Radford/the club for poor recruitment and form all pre season, then slate him for disappointing end to the season, but don't give him any credit for getting to the point of being in the mix, despite this poor recruitment - none of the act of getting us to the brink of the playoffs is down to him apparently.'"
At no point have I slated Lee Radford, I want him to be held accountable. Try to deal with my post, missed opportunities, that would have us clear in second place in the league and being out coached in a semi. Massive confidence shakers that the coach should have dealt with. I personally rate the team we have. The poor signings were squad players intended for the defunct “A” team, never intended for first team unless we had another horrendous injury list.
I maintain that Ian Watson, would have had a far superior season with this team.

| Quote ="Mrs Barista"To try and stop the rather vitriolic exchanges I will try and summarise what's happened so we can all move forward:
1. We lost in very disappointing fashion on Friday
2. Some posters said they felt at their lowest ebb in decades (let's call them Group A)
3. Some other posters felt this was surprising/daft in the context of other events/tenures during this time - including possible extinction. (Group B - but mainly me I guess)
4. Group A then come back with we should be doing much better, we're a big club
5. Group B then say well technically we're not as big as we'd like to think we are (Dean Friedman style) based on objective financial measures and Super League history (where there's a very strong correlation), so maybe there's a disconnect between expectation and realism. Not to say aspirations should be dialed down, just expectations may need to be better managed.
6. Group B gets accused of (I kid you not) attacks, insults, being vomit-inducing, crazy, boring, a fool, garbage, persecuting, self-righteous, insulting, needing banning, needs to get a life...there are a lot more but you get the gist.
Perhaps to sort all this out a list of these attacks and insults I've been made can be set out, so I can address each in turn and apologise as required - genuinely. I really don't think that I've given out anything like the rather nasty personal attacks made to me in 6 above, but if we want to conclude this slightly unsavoury dialogue let's have the specifics. I won't ask for the reciprocation, but I notice one of the main protagonists has already deleted his most extreme/personal post yesterday, so I will take that as a token of regret.
Chris71, I apologise for posting a laughing emoji when you posted that this was your lowest point for 40 years. You are right, I shouldn't assume I know what others are feeling and their own experiences.'"
Apology accepted and wishing I hadn’t posted anything to be honest.
At the end of the day we are all fans of this great club and as shown by the posts in this thread everyone is frustrated with the performances and that’s the crux of it all. We are not in Salford position financially and whilst not in the same bracket as St’s or Warrington it doesn’t excuse the poor and inconsistent performances. The players actually want for nothing and I think just a little too cosy with some also seemingly too close to Radford.
For me Radford has to distance himself from the players as in he is no longer ‘one of the boys’ he’s the boss. Sometimes it just seems all too pally pally.
We all want the same thing and that’s for the club to be successful and play decent rugby consistently. I don’t mind getting bear but it’s the manner in which we have been tonked and embarrassed by our own performances rather than the excellence of opposition, that’s what sits uneasy for me.
No doubt we will all still turn up as tomorrow another day but AP & LR have to be aware and switched on to the fact that these swings in performances are starting to turn off the fan base which isn’t a recipe for success either.
If you look at it a different way as a product such as a meal that needs a lot on different ingredients to be top quality you still need a capable and quality chef. Without that you can keep changing the ingredients and occasionally you’ll get lucky and turn out a few decent dishes but you’ll have far more poor/average ones and be very inconsistent.
But with a top chef you’ll get the best out of the ingredients you use and make a far better dish and consistently than someone who is an ok cook.

Surely underperformance is not performing to those high standards you've mentioned on more than a handful of occasions this season? I get your point about the (financial) cream always rising to the top but I just want to see my team performing well consistently. If that means we're still not good enough to win trophies i can take that but i do want to see a team who are as good as they should be on a regular basis and we haven't had that for most of Radford tenure.

| If only we could get the passion on the pitch that we see on this forum, then this thread would never have appeared. In saying that, any team that concedes more than 700 points should be nowhere near the playoffs (and we are).

He doesnt deserve credit for getting us as you say into the mix.
Our elevated league position is down to the poor quality of Super league as a whole nothing to do Radford.
He should be criticised heavily for poor recruitment, player retention and not kicking on from the C/C wins.
Look at our current points against tally and as pointed out by a previous poster two or three wins against Lower teams like Huddersfield or HKR we would have been clear in second place.Ridiculous that such a poor team could have finished in second place.
Its absurd to give Radford any credit for this season apart from bringing Ratu into the club.

Yes but the same can be said for other clubs, surely? If Warrinton hadn't lost their last six games they'd have second sewn up. They've also lost at Rovers and at home to us.
If Wigan hadn't had such a poor start they'd be clear in second. They lost on golden point at home to us then went to London and lost, followed by a home defeat to Huddersfield. The difference to us is that they've peaked at the right time. I think we were seven places above them in April/May.
As you say, the quality has been poor throughout (Saints aside).

OK Chief, hope we're friends again.
I understand the frustration. I just don't feel it personally, pretty immune to having expectations raised and not met whilst Agar was here so just go with the flow now, enjoy it and have a really nice time. We have a finite amount of energy, mine won't be spent on Radford bashing as he's here indefinitely anyway and there are worse things in life.As you say we'll be back at it for 2020 shortly - looking forward to the pre season hype and shirt launch already (Best kit ever vs looks cheap and they won't be getting my money).

| Had the weekend to digest yet another abysmal effort. The players looks jaded / unfit or dis interested.
I have supported the team for over 40 yrs and will likely renew my pass again for next season.
None of us know what is going on at the club behind the scenes. Clearly though we do not want another repeat of this dross next season.
In response to some posters querying they have seen much worse.
Yes there have been far worse seasons but expectations have increased due to the quality of players that we now have at the club. The best and most consistent clubs have leaders with a good rugby brain in the pivot positions. Unfortunately that is one thing we are still missing.
The team as a whole have Plenty of Brawn but no Brains.

| If Radford is staying he certainly needs help with our attack, and especially our defence. Shaun Wane seems to be open to offers, why don't they get him in to help.We certainly need something different,we are sick of the same headless chicken syndrome which we are seeing every game at home.Fans are leaving the ground early at every game because they know what to expect when we go behind. When i read Radfords view on the game i always think i must have been at a different game. The frightening thing is that nothing is going to change in the future and nobody seems willing or able to change it. All the people around me at the ground are as sick as i am and this must be having a detrimental effect on sales and tickets. What we play like now sells season tickets for next year so things have got to change

If he needs help with our attack and defence then why is he the coach?
R/L is based on attack and defence
Radford has been very lucky to keep his job and thats only due to the support of Adam Pearson.
I still maintain an out of town coach or overseas coach with Radfords record since the C/C victories would have been replaced months ago.
I just hope the professionalism and workrate of the new guys coming in starts to rub off on other players at the club.
At the moment the club is too cosy.
I dont think we will make the playoffs but Radford knows he already has his lifeline for next season.
Wish we had Tony Smith

Exactly, I'd rather turn over £1000 and get a £100 profit than turn over £10k and make a profit of £20.

That's the point. We have to turn a profit as we don't have a benefactor to bankroll losses.
