you do realise the touch judges are on a live communication system with the referee and the other touch judge and timekeeper and will call "forward forward" the referee then decides to blow or run with it if he believes he has the better angle happens quite a lot! TJ,s also call offside players in the defensive line and the referee again decides if there is an advantage or choose to penalise ,the tj will only use flag for touch touch ingoal goal kicks and foul play so don't expect the flag to raised for forward passes or offside players like football you will be waiting a long time!

Yes i do realise.What i said was that the R/L should make them more responsible for calling forward passes as they are in a much better field position to make that call.
The fact that so many go unpunished means the touch judge in line with play is not doing his job.

Or that the man in the middle takes no notice. I agree with you that refs should act on the TJs call but it doesn't always happen. Most forwards are called by the crowd, certain clubs get the rub everytime.

Having been an official at pro level, I can confirm that refs don't always act on a call from the TJ. They may well get a "forward forward forward" call in their ear, but ultimately it is the ref's choice as they often have a different view of the game. The TJ is there to judge touch and kicks at goal and intervene for serious foul play (coming on with the flag). TJ's calls maybe ignored more than taken. It is less clear to fans since the advent of comms sets as prior to that they used hand signals for forwards etc. and that was more obvious to fans.

It was pretty warm when we took Saints to the cleaners in an earlier round. Won't be an issue for our team we've shown countless times this season that we are fit and finish strongly.

Doubt we'll see him in the first team again ever at Wire, not buying into the programme, especially the diet.

Swings and roundabouts, both teams are fit, big guys tire quicker in heat.

I personally don't think it will favour one team over another.

Our style needs good weather, as we have shown time and time again rain doesn't suit us.

I don't think that big guys tire quicker in the heat at all. Fitter players last better no matter what the conditions and our fitness is excellent. There seems to be this misconception that we have a team of lumbering giants but I've yet to see us run out of steam in a game this year and we've won plenty in the final 10 minutes.

I'm not at all confident we'll win but I don't think fatigue will be the deciding factor if we lose

Hewer has been a ref since 2004, however his full time job is/was an engineer team leader at Sellafield nuclear power station. So despite taking senior games as early as 2007 incl our defeat of Sheffield in the cup and 10 games in 2009 and 2010 he dropped off the radar between 2011-2015 in which he only reffed 9 games total with one SL match. He's done almost 20 games this season though.
Apparently he's only 34!
