| Gordon Bennett, does nearly every rugby commentator have to go through the mill?
Stevo, Hemmings,Ray French.
They are there to do a job,and they are doing it.
If you dont like it,turn down the sound.

Then we could put on Humberside and listen to gollum........
Dont really have a problem with Eddie, though I think Stevo has past his sell-by date, just thought he made rather a big deal out it today, sorry

So how is Hemmings crap? He seems to fair in his commentries.Stevo gets carried away sometimes, but he seems to add to the proceedings.I just think it is a bit unfair the way these two get slated. They are after all part of keeping R.L. on the box.

You obviously expect different things from your commentary teams to me - and most others. The vast, vast majority of supporters I speak to watch the Sky coverage in spite of those two clowns, not because of them.
Don't you think the commentary on the Hull game was far superior?

It was different ,yes I will agree.
As for the other two,we are all entitled to an opinion,I may be in the minority, but I find they do the job adequatly .
We will agree to differ.

| The way they 'bigged up' the Saints V Wigan game was sickly. Even after last nights match at Leeds, Eddie said, "tomorrow, hkr V Hull FC, then the BIG ONE, Saints V Wigan.
It's as if there is no other game worthy of watching but theirs.
I agree with some of the other posters, having Mac & O'Conner were much better.

Unless they meet in the CC or playoffs
I think I'm right in saying that Saints will be playing some home matches at Widnes next season until the new stadium is ready? Anyone else confirm this?

| more or less correct
saints have to vacate Knowsley road by 2/1/11
they will be likely to use Widnes for a few home games prior to the opening of new stadium which saints hope is early summer 2011- they are likely to play quite a number of away games in the first part of 2011

| If we are looking objectively, one match yesterday was between two leading sides in front of a bigger crowd, the other was between a leading contender and a low ranking bunch of cheap shot merchants, watched by a smaller crowd in a dump of a ground. It isn't unreasonable to say that Saints v Wigan was the bigger game.

I really cant see it been ready until mid summer, I've told a few saints fans not to be surprised if they end up playing some games at KR next year. Construction hasn't started yet and a contractor hasn't been decided upon either9though is planned to be released soon apparently)
The build time mentioned was 15 months initially, they've now said 12 months which I see as optomistic and 15 months is closer to the mark.
The news release as of 24/03/2010 was that St.Helens council were planning to construct a roundabout and associated works to access the site with the stadium opening for May 2011 which is halfway through the season. Saints will lose a lot of money because of this with their 'away' home games

| its a 60 week build from commencement which is hoped to start in next few weeks - as i said earlier they will have more away games in the first few weeks of 2011 and as for the few home games at Widnes - the stobart is only 8 miles away from st helens - hardly going to stretch them is it

You'd be surprised how many Saints fans wont travel as it's "too far for a home game".
Actual building hasn't started & wont until at least the contract has been given and the site handed over to the contructor. So that's your "next few weeks" on top of the 60 week construction (which will no doubt over-run) and after construction the stadium has to be passed fit for use. So at best that brings the completion to the beginning of June which is 18/19 games into the season.
Your few games at Widnes or wherever will turn out to be at the very minimum 5 if Saints play ALL there away games in the first 2/3 of the season. A drop of 10% in "home" gates will be very fortunate, likely closer to 20% which will have a massive impact financially.

If it's anything like the upgrade in quality that the KC is from the Boulevard the gates will probably soar. These new grounds are great for the game - can't wait to see Salford's new ground as well.
