Agreed, not disputing the fact injuries have played a massive part on both teams, plus teams like Hudds, Catalans it's the term reserves which I don't agree.
As you say let's leave it there, you deserved your win and we need to be better for next season

| I thought both coaches made good points. Radford, that it was a typical derby, fast-paced with lots of effort, but a bit harum-scarum (i’m paraphrasing). Sheens, that the conditions suited us more, with an unfamiliar team - and in the first half especially we definitely handled them better imo.
Main positives for me was that our spirit looks good, and we had the odd moment of class - Hall’s tries and Carney’s 40-20. Main worry is that we still often have tacklers on the floor when the opposition ptb, having lost the collision.
For Hull, your purple patch was very purple, and Radford was right that there was no shortage of effort. On the downside, while you’re still a powerful team and we struggled to cope, you miss guys like Ellis and Watts, and cope we did - just about. And without Kelly and Connor your attacking play is predictable - as acknowledged by a lot of you.

You know I love you MR, but what sort of "bantz" is this? Throw some petrol on our bonfire of overreaction please, balanced analysis has its place but not here & now

| Just about managed to pull my head out my ass! We are just an awful team to watch , really poor basic skills , and our attacking structures are just dreadful , injuries no excuse for me , just really poor effort , I'm not convinced 2019 will be much different without any changes to personnel on and off the playing field

You must have missed those booming up and unders, and his superb field kicking gaining much more meters than any other place kicker we have, giving us countless opportunities which we squandered deep in rovers territory, also his attacking kicking game across their line, a couple of matches into his season, after a real nasty fracture of his leg/ankle.

| A few observations on last night just to get them off my chest.
A dramatic occasion being a Derby and in that weather but probably one of the poorest quality games of rugby I can remember seeing. If I see another game where all the tries are so scrambled and scrappy I will lose interest.
We were poor and Rovers slightly less so, so the best team won.
He was not the reason we lost but Hewer was poor. I do not watch Rovers so do not know anything about about Jewitt but what a cheap thug. At least a couple of late, off the ball tackles which along with the crusher tackle on Griffin and Tickle's charge in to Taylor's back when he was held should be reviewed by the disciplinary committee. If not then a few fellow professionals should give Tickle a good talking to down a dark alley because that was simply dangerous. I like Tickle from his time at Hull but that was poor. When Hewer called Scruton over for his second high tackle he seemed to give him a one word telling off - comical.
Wet slippery conditions so for god's sake why don't players carry the ball in two hands? Our ball control was pathetic and probably cost us the game. We made good yards and in the first half at least barely finished a set.
Our creativity in attack in the absence of Kelly and Connor is non existent. This is not a criticism of Sneyd who does a different job.
I would be happier with Crooks and Hall in our squad than some of the youngsters we have persisted with who I do not think will make the grade - not as regular first teamers but good back up squad members.
We are on a poor run but I am glad I am not a Leeds fan.
How does an 80 minute game last 2 hrs and 10 minutes?
The roof leaks above my seat in the West Stand!

Hope your flight was okay - gone somewhere nice?
I think Hull will be alright next season. The lad Matongo is going to be a player, I think - but he looks knackered at the moment. Taylor is fearsome, but he’s walking like somebody carrying about four injuries - painful just to watch. Bienek looks like he could eat three shredded wheat, from the clips i’ve seen. That said, I think you either need to adapt the way you play or sign another proven SL-level prop, if you want to be better than ‘alright’. If they’re fit, I think Connor, Kelly, Sneyd, Houghton is your best spine. Connor would almost inevitably play some games at centre or 6, so Shaul would still be an important part of the squad. Houghton could do to be spelled more nowadays too.
What would be a fair price for Jordan Abdull, I wonder.
We still need to be bigger and stronger, although Tomkins and Greenwood in the second row would/should help, for all that Greenwood has become worryingly error prone. Another in the mold of Mose Masoe would be nice too.
If Crooks can maintain last night’s form through the 8s I’d be very happy to sign him for 2019. Danny Tickle - best worst signing ever!
Now if we can just stay in SL...

The Tickle hit on Taylor was really cheap. Nothing illegal about it of course, but I still dont like to players flying in on a defenceless player like that, especially in the back. Pretty cowardly and potentially dangerous. When you consider some of the really cheap penalties that are awarded for marginal high tackles, maybe they should be penalised aswell.

Connor is our best player (imo) and we need to get him in the team. Shaul is the weak link out of the positions Connor can play. People are crying out for some pace out wide. The obvious answer is Connor at 1 and Shaul at 5 isn't it?

Taylor was held, but not ‘HELD!’, so Tickle’s tackle was brutal but legal. It made me wince-smile, i’ll say that. There was nowt in the ‘crusher tackle’ on slapper Griffin, and i’ll be disgusted if that gets a charge... although not necessarily surprised.
Nothing personal, but the mental image of you with a monk-on, sat beneath the leaking roof made me snort-laugh, and turned an ordinary post into something of literary merit.

Is Shaul fast though? When did he last make a break and not get chased down? Haven't seen him get a shift on since he chased down Sandow at Wembley in 2016.

Yeah the Griffin crusher was a whole load of nothing. Makes me cringe when fans are screaming and chanting for the ref to send him off. Griffin just turned in the tackle and and I don't think there wasn't really any unnecessary pressure applied. I do though have a problem with the inconsistencies that referees show in this situation, such as in the CC cup game when Richardson turned his back into Houghton and we ended up getting a yellow card from it.
Tickle hit into Taylor's back as you say was a legal challenge. Bad sportsmanship most definitely. The tackle was complete (held hadn't been called but it was pbvious nobody was going anywhere) and he was wrapped up by 3 men. Very unnecessary but nothing in the rules against it.
