| Quote ="Chris71"The whole situation regarding the SMC/Allams in regard to the Stadium is beyond a farce now and the Council need to seriously look at the mess they've got into with the Allams over the fact they are in affect the SMC.
The time has come for HCC to take serious steps now to start a process to oust the Allams from having anything to do with the stadium other than them paying to use it for Hull City.
The Allams seem to be do everything possible to make life difficult for the Council (some of their own doing) and the good people of this City all because they don't get their own way. They are pathetic, childish bullies and the sooner the council are rid of them the better, the gift to the City really was the joke of century that was bought by so many in the council & media.
The only people the Allams ever look out for is themselves and only themselves, the fact he claims to be philanthropic is another pile of dung to put of the mountain of 5h!t from them.'"
Lets not forget the £1million he gave to Kr literally just to try to pee us off cos he didn't want us in "his" stadium.

| Wasn't it a Labour council that essentially gave away the asset and the opportunity to get some of the money back they'd spent on it, including being able to utilise their property without being charged for it.
the whole thing was a massive cockup from day 1 and the council don't have the know-how or gumption to rectify the mistakes made.

humberside fire brigade have removed the gate at the request of humberside police after they asked, then instructed the smc to open the gates who refusesd after 100s of people were stuck on the footpath over the railway lines! no way will the council allow the smc/allams to put another one in its place surely!?

| Good news that the police/fire brigade have taken action. Can’t believe for a second we’ve heard the last of this though.

In sure there'll some statement from the Allams in due course threatening to do something maybe move to Melton......... oh hang a minute that's was years ago.
Hope they get fined for wasting Police & Fire Brigade time when they just had to open the gate.
So now the emergency services will be in the firing line no doubt for daring to actually take action. W⚓️s the pair of them.

Not just that the Council had even blocked it off although the local councillor was threatening to tear it down! His actions seemed to have worked too as the SMC have backed down!!

Agreed that it's a partial victory, but it shouldn't be locked at all, it's public land.

Just you wait.....

Struggle to understand what land the SMC 'own' when it is all land owned by the Council. The gate has been put there for one reason and that's to make life difficult for everyone in the City that uses that route in everyday life . The terrorism threat excuse is just trying to hide behind the fear factor and is pathetic. I'm sure a gate is really going to stop someone when the stadium can be accessed easily from the park.

I think the theory is that, having evaded detection whilst studying Jolly Rogers Cook Book, buying the materials online, building the device and attending the mosque, Jonny Terrorist will decide that, instead of getting a bus to Walton Street or Spring Bank to carry out the deadly deed, it’s all become “too difficult” because he can’t go to St Stephens on the way for Nando’s and walk down Londesborough Street, to the stadium via the walkway, so he’s going to become a volunteer at The Samaritans and breed fluffy bunnies instead. That’ll show the infidels!!

| What I do find daft about this is that the gate is opened when city games are on so what allam is saying is we will close the gate to stop a terrorist attack when the stadium is empty but leave it open to make it easier for the terrorist when there is a bunch of people in there...

That terrorists wishing to attack the stadium are too thick to go via West Park.

Well, exactly. This is what I don’t get. Surely the “risk” is elevated on matchday therefore the requirement to close this ISIS barrier should be then? The whole rationale sounds bonkers to me.

With the Allams, it’s almost a threat from within, they seem to want to “blow up” the KC from within. The old man seems intent on misery to achieve his own happiness. All that money, no conscience or morals.

The response from councillors, at least on Twitter and in the poorly articulated "statements" seems high on emotion and low on detailed critique and dismantling of the rationale put forward by the SMC. Whether that's through lack of capability, appetite or resources to fund appropriately specialist legal counsel I don't know, but posturing about taking the gate down themselves then having to concede that in the main it will stay shut is exactly the response the Allams would have been hoping for IMO.

No it wasn’t, it was the Lib Dem’s under Simone Butterworth that put together the contract and signed it. And it isn’t about having the know how, the contract is air tight, we have had QCs look at it over the air I arena farce.

The statements put out by whom? The SMC manage the grounds and as we found at great cost have an airtight contract, the councils only recourse is through the planning process. The footpath was built for the Stadium and as such is not a public right of way.

The one they put out yesterday saying the gate would be open for a few hours. I think the ambitions of the Allams now, having already alienated FC and City's fans is to cast the net wider and get after fairgoers
Seriously though, from a planning consent perspective does the rationale for putting a gate in which (fairtime apart) is shut apart from on the few hours each week when there are substantial numbers of people in attendance, as a way of mitigating terrorism risk stack up? I simply don't see it, unless I've missed something.

Slither and squirm, just what we expect from the great and good of HCC, Mr Webster, you epitomise everything that’s wrong with local government, idiots elected and setting low targets and constantly missing them. I would imagine you voted for the unnecessary new Ice Rink and the sub capacity (but inflated cost) venue, not to mention the countless delays on Castle Street development and idiocy of bus lanes. City of Culture we may be, but the only culture at the power levels of the Council is a self-serving culture of the old boys network.
