Zak Hardaker, Chris Hill, Alex Walmsley, Anthony England, Jason Walton, Greg Johnson and Liam Finn are all fairly recent success stories of identifying talent from the lower divisions. The success rate recruiting from the Championship seems far greater than it does recruiting from the lower tiers in Australia. It's too easy to finger point at a shallow player pool. The playing talent is clearly out there, the clubs just aren't utilising it!

some are better at it than others I guess, FC have done well in recent years, the desire for instant success doesn't help, and nor go greedy agents that give poor advice.

Talanoa had never played over here before he joined us.

I want to see whichever is most likely to win for my team. I'm not over fussed where they're birthed.

Tbf, that's roughly half a team and you're covering a handful of years of players stepping up. Whenever I look at the top-rated players in the Championship in RLW, a high proportion are SL players who stepped down. I think Scott Murrell and Will Sharp were in team of the month, last time I looked. Though, I'm not sure why we got shot of Murrell, sometimes, I admit.

I think rovers have recruited well. 3 new 3/4's who are all better than the players they are replacing. chester also saying they are signing 4 young players from other SL clubs and I'd expect at least one to be one of ours, possibly 2

He's also said Mantellato is a young player, he's 27?!

To be fair, we heard all last winter about how good the dobbins recruitment was and how it was going to propel them into the top 6. Not worked out this year, and they've lost one of their top two players already and may yet lose their other one in time for next season.

One thing you can say about Hkr recruitment is it's always balanced. They always get the type of player they need. We just seem to sign anyone and force them into a hole. Although Sneyd and Pyrce seem what we need.

Injury free Mantello and Sio will get at least 30 try's between them next year in Burns can sort his cross field kicks out, some of England's best can bearly jump over a cig paper.

Just shows that there's barely a cig paper between the two approaches based on results.

Hull's recruitment under McRae and Gentle and before has been a disaster.

Sa, Talanoa, Carvell, Rankin?

3 of these players are doing ok, early days for sa as well. out of those 3 only carvell has failed and is gone. Rankin shows much potential. there's a long list of gentle/mcrae signings who have not lasted at the club or who will shortly cease to have a career here. i'll reserve judgement until we know who our other signings are, but so far radford and motu's recruitment has not been too bad. i'll also add the caveat that we don't know how much the salary cap impacts on current recruitment and also exactly what the budget is for new players - 2 very different things. what pearson declares publicly might not be the whole picture

no i wasn't saying the club as a whole are doing ok - were underperforming badly. however out of the 4 players you named 3 have done ok this season - we have got far worse and released far worse
