No one on here in my memory has ever claimed Horne to be the best no.6 in SL, that's what you have compared him too in Rangi Chase so not surprisingly he does not come on ahead of him.

You did say he was not good enough to be in a top four side, the stats compared with Brown suggest he is.

He's a very good SL no.6 and with the right halfback partner he will perform better.

Chase is a special player, he is the type of player I would like to see in an FC shirt if we seriously want to challenge, after years of h/back issues he is the type of player we should be throwing money at!

Of course you can compare other positions , however what has that argument got to do with obtaining a top quality h/back which we have lacked for many years.....I pinpoint Horney due to our lack of ambition by affording him a 2 yr contract which is not warranted!
Also worth touching on the fact you made about Horney being the constant throughout....We are now in a battle for 8th and got knocked out of the c/cup by an average Leeds side..Mmmmmm

That’s not the record though as ‘we are legion’ holds that record.

The facts are that some are basing their opinions of R Horne in his present run of form, not what happened in some distant past with better support players around him. To say that his game will much improve next year with Seymour & Heremaia on the field, is pure guess work.

Well I'm gonna be a little more optimistic by saying that Seymour looked a decent organiser to me before he got injured earlier this season, whilst Heremaia is playing very well at present and grabbing some well deserved plaudits in a NZW team going good in the NRL.

They both appear to have a decent kicking game also so that alone will relieve a little pressure on Rich.

Why is it guess work?
In 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007 we finished 3rd, 5th, 2nd & 4th respectively. Horne played at 6 alongside an organiser and playmaker. He only played 3 games in 2008, in 2009 he was playing alongside Thorman FFS and in 2010 & 2011 he's had Long, who's hardly played.

So, in a team with an organiser/chief playmaker Horne has been a very good stand off in a top 4 team. Why not give him the chance to replicate that form?

As for Chase, well, he's never been in a top 4 team, has he? If he's so good why are Cas struggling down in 7th?

Never once implied it was..I have never implied he was cr@p....What I have said is he is very average imo!
I accept it is hard for some fans to accept that he is average, as in his day Rich was awesome and his loyalty is a credit to the shirt, however for me his awesome days are well gone and I doubt he will ever reach that form again as he has lost his speed, and his defence is not very good at all.

Nor would I settle for the likes of Briers or Brown no improvement imo, what I wanted is some-one of the calibre of Chase!

You said about him been a constant this season and said that we are fighting for the 8th and knocked out of the cup therefore implying a large portion of that is because of Horne. I for One have always liked horne and think he has been good this season and one of our more consistent players, the kicking game argument doesnt stand with me he has never been a long kicker so I blame the coach for implementing a game plan which sees Horne get the ball on the last more often than not knowing he's not the best field positional kicker, Horne has suffered from a not having a creative and kicking half back partner since Cooke, and I think Seymour/Ellis could bring the best out of him once again IMO.

I just think we should have invested heavily in that position, it is the key to success, even Green offers more imo than Horney, now do not get me wrong had Horney got a 1 yr I would have been fine with this as we have been that short the last few years it would have been worth it. like mentioned I still believe/hope Ellis will make the grade and if he does believe all I have waffled about will be realised, a 6 needs to do a heck of a lot more than Horney does.
Others which have been mentioned may have similar stats to Horney however take Briers he offers a kicking game and decent defence.

Not really fun, some people really are clueless, take Chases stats in an average team like Cas then imagine what they would be in a team like ours with our forwards, not hard to figure out is it!
