The first time of any pictures that show players with the 3 Crowns on the shirt was The Challenge Cup in 1960 on the Clubs blazer the badge was Hull on top of the 3 crowns with F C at the bottom ..

just seen an all white strip of the Yorkshire cup side of 23 October 1954 and it as just the 3 crowns on it ..and we got beat 22-14 by Halifax

The book 'Old Faithful' shows a Hull team from 1881-82 in black shirts with a three crowns crest.
To answer the OP, we already have the traditional club badge, I think it looks fine.

| The badge was introduced in the early 80s and the design was registered with the heraldry guild.
This represents the City of Hulls three crowns, the Humber Bridge joining both sides of the Humber, the White rose of Yorkshire and the heraldic symbol for water. this shield is supported by two lions rampant, which I presume is the English connection holding the whole lot together.
Clearly conceived during the Humberside County era and reflecting the "togetherness" the county wished to project, it like the county failed. I have always had a fondness for the badge and it fell from use in the 90s, its nice to have it around but the three crowns is the badge that is by tradition "our" badge. |

A former player at Hull and Hull KR, now over in West Yorks once said the three Crowns were his favourite too.
The Crown, Holderness Road, The Crown, Marfleet lane and another one he couldn't recall, possibly The Crown and Anchor, but he admits to maybe getting this last one mixed up with some rhyming slang thrown his way.
He also added it certainly wasn't the CPS.
