As I and others have mentioned before, it's probably no coincidence that the last time we had a decent youth set up with more than the odd player coming through was when McRae was involved with the club.

I agree, I really don't get the basis for the McRae-bashing. As for recruitment, almost half of this year's consisted of players Gentle had worked with/knew from Wests Tigers, so that suggests to me that he is getting his say.

Changing coaches too many times in recent years has added to the problem, another change would almost certainy lead to writing next season off now as a " rebuilding year". This season has been difficult at half back yet again, injuries strike again at vital times.

Anyone expecting an Old Trafford visit this season was always going to be on a loser, we are not good enough and vunerable in quite a few area's but we are making progress. We have no option but to ride out the storm .

I aint bashing McRae in the slightest just wondering if the role he has had any effect on the Head Coach? McRae from what I have seen of him is a fairly stand up kinda guy and I do think that he will leave PG to that side of the business. However the fact the club is heavily involved with one agent does leave me to question this.
I would add that some of the most attractive play we have seen at Hull FC in the modern game came under McRae's tenure as Head Coach however we still won nothing of note. I would say that to be honest there is not a lot to chose from between then and now with regards the youth as McRae had to bring in the likes of Wilkinson, Lupton etc to swell the ranks as we didnt have the quality coming through we may have had a greater number but were they all quality? The answer is most were simply not good enough or didnt fulfill the potential they showed in the academy and were let go.

Still think one of the biggest problems this seasons is not being able to put a settled geniune half back pairing on the field for a run of games. However this still can't hide the fact we still play dumb rugby and continue to make the same mistakes and we can go from great performance to shocking in the same week.

Why? If that was the case i would send him on gardening leave and get someone else in.

If he hasn't breached his contract or otherwise triggered a legitimate clause that allows FC to terminate it (maybe agreed targets?) then he would have to agree a severance package. You can't just sack people out of hand.

I didn't say they could sack him, i just stated that i doubt any severance package would be higher than what he would earn during the remainder of his current contract. Otherwise could they not simply relocate him elsewhere within the club to see out his contract.

I guess it all depends on what his contract states etc. (Don't want to see him go, happy for him to be given more time.)

What i have seen that tends to happen is that an initial package is agreed and then further payments are made until the dismissed person gets another job.

Mancini at Man City was given a payoff of 7.5m and further payments each month until he starts another job. Yet his 4 remaining years were worth around 30m.

Hence my doubt that if Gentle were to be relived of his duties I could not see him getting any more than he would have earned for the duration of his contract.

But I know nothing of employment law, but then again Sports employment is a different kettle of fish.

Gentle is a decent coach. How many others have had to shuffle their half backs about as he has had to? You cannot function properly without a settled half back pairing. Give the guy a break FFS.

I dont give a flying one how much it costs to get rid of Gentle and Mcrae as thats Pearsons job, he employed them/extended contracts so its job to sort that stuff out what i do know is that the next coach has to proven not some numpty assistant good for bugga all idiot that weve endured for years now.
