FC fans are angry because they think they will lose their marquee player for their most important game to date this season. Giants fans are because the ref was an incompetent fool.
I don't think Ellis should get a ban because As I've said before I don't think it warrants one- I do think it was a penalty, regardless of his right shoulder hitting the back of robbos head or not his left arm appears to hit above the shoulder.
A caution about his technique should be the outcome of the panels decision.
When that IMO correct decision is made no doubt all the FC fans will be back crowing about how they were right, justice etc.

Of course if the correct decision to award the penalty was made at the time we wouldn't be having this debate.

Ellis flattened Robinson due to the angle of the tackle, not the technique, watched it on slow motion and full speed now and in my opinion it was like a truck hitting a fly.

Its always going to look worse in those circumstances, every other tackle on Rob Burrow looks fatal but usually it's just a case of mass... here's some physics for you ...

The fly (robinson) and truck (ellis) experience the same force, the same impulse, and the same momentum change.
As Robinson has less mass he will therefore experience the impact more (considered to be acceleration in physics); Ellis does not feel the extremely small acceleration of the impact.
Furthermore, the Robinson is composed of a less muscle mass and bulk and thus gets flattened (akin to a Fly getting splattered all over the windshield).

So we conclude this with the realisation that smaller players are just generally more splatterable.

I dont post on here much now, but here goes, last night on the superleague show Harris says " They must have a different camera angle because on that angle there's no shoulder contact" Peacock says " nothing in it typical big man on little man tackle". I hope the club fight this as from where i was sat in the West stand I couldn't see anything wrong with it and again last night I couldn't see anything wrong with it. Eddie is a total tool and loves nothing more than stirring up a bit of controversy. I agree with head shots being looked at but in a high speed impact sport you've got to use a bit of common sense. I could see no intent on Ellis's part and also looking at Robinsons body shape and the angle of his run IMO he just got caught with a big hit.

Leuleui's flying shoulder charge into the ribs of a Wakefield player? Clear shoulder shot. Cummings said that he hadnt rotated the hips to gain greater force and his arms were around the ball carrier.

So, basically a similar scenario to Ellis on Robinson, except Ellis didn't go shoulder first.

If it had been that bad, you would expect (yes I know) that ref or TJ would have seen it. It was right in front of me and I just thought "wham - what a hit!"

If there'd been a clear high shot, shoulder charge or "attack" to the head, I wouldn't have been as annoyed as I am with the summons, but it was just a big hit and, as I've said before, the fact that Robinson was hurt and stayed down has influenced the decision to call Ellis up, not the challenge itself. IMHO of course.

Couldn't agree more. They get these incidents wrong so many times its turning into a farce. It just seems to depend on if the opposition player is injured / stays down or if they complain loudly enough.

And Anderson has set the precedent. Whinge and moan enough and the "offending" player gets called up. I don't want to see the game turn into a whingefest, but I hope PG is learning what he has to do more of.

Indeed - I also heard Barry McDermott talking about how he'd 'sat in' on the judiciary panel's deliberation over the Poore incident last week. He waxed lyrical about how he thought the correct decision had been reached and how the process was fair and logical etc. etc. Think he said it was Steve Ganson, Paul Dixon and someone else on the panel. He might have thought it was all very good but it didn't fill me with any confidence.

As you say Stuart Cummings effectively described Ellis' body position with the Leuluai incident. Should never have been charged.

So anything could happen.

Absolutely spot on, I don't post on here much now either, it should be thrown out, I haven't got involved in this and have spent time watching every re play I can find and conclude he's only up because of the Huddersfiled complaints and for me the game its turning soft. Those dicks on Sky love trying to take the biff out of a game that has always been all the better for it! Thuggery is one thing high tempo impact stuff is quite another.

P.S. If we had a few more of your son, I'd not be so concerned about losing our marquee player.

From what I saw Ellis will be warned as will the Catalan player. He shoulder charged but it wasn't into the head. The other Catalan one was a shocker, can see why he took the ban.
