Wasn’t we going to appoint him when Kear left, but Bradford quickly offered him the job there?
Wouldn’t want him here now. Hopefully it goes to someone not born in the HU postcode.

I've been thinking about this since Thursday and tbh I reckon Macnamara would be a good fit. Forget the Hull connection, I don't think he's the clique type. He's coached at the top level for some time now. He's also handled some really big names and bigger ego's at Catalan. His time in charge of the national team wasn't bad infact he was hard done too by the RFL who opted for a bigger name and failed miserably (bare that in mind). I reckon he'd go well here and more importantly he'd love the job. Don't dismiss him to easily.

| Quote ="Chris71"JK got us to a Cup Final and won it and was then got rid of by Kath, rumours being because of sandwich gate.
To be fair Peter Sharp got us to our only GF appearance and was then shafted figuratively speaking by Kath along with the Cooke affair so he quit. Had he been left to do his job without having one hand tied behind his back I reckon he'd have moulded us into a decent team and would have got the best out of the players he had.
Peter Gentle was unfortunate in that he didnt know enough about the players in SL and AP at the time was still pretty green. AP had McRae who pretty much abused his position and gave poor advice to both AP and Gentle which ultimately came at the cost of Gentles job.
Now AP is much more knowledgeable with his own trusted contacts both her and in the southern hemisphere I think he would appoint the right candidate from Aus, NZ or the UK.'"
CC asides, I much more enjoyed watching hull under the past coaches you mentioned, bang on about sharp

| Can’t see any new coach allowing Shaul to play in the same way he does now.
Interesting to see how it affects contract negotiations going forward also.

I must admit, I’m starting to come around to some people thoughts of playing Connor at 1, once we are near full strength, although I still prefer him at centre. But could be a compromise giving Connor that more pivotal role that he seems to prefer

| Evalds is a lot like shaul, but does pass the ball a little more. Wouldnt bring evalds in.
I'm.not saying play Kelly at fb, however he did play a bit of fb in the off season.
But ive said it for a while, we need a pivot play at fb as we play extra forward at 13.

That now being past tense as we don't know what the new guy will want.
I'd like to see from this country, Ward, Watson or Ford given a chance.

It’s our pivots who have been letting us down, particularly Houghton and Shaul in pushing us forward.

| I'd like Powell from cas, would get some attractive rugby with him.
Shaul has been letting us down as a pivot, has done for a couple of season tbh.
Houghton IMO is only dangerous with ball in hand when we get quick play of the balls.
As it stands, Last and Purtell in charge, I dont see much changing, could be wrong, but think it will be same old for now.

| Alot mention Shaul as a pivot, im guessing your on about his attacking contribution?
Defensively hes not much better, really has brain farts when coming into the line to defend when he d be much better dropping back and covering.
I think he may the first player a new coach looks at replacing, cant believe people have said he should get england call ups, hes gone backwards

| Houghton is good at scooting and tackling, but thats about it, slows our play down ridiculously with the little shimmy he does befoee he releases the ball it allows the defensive line to close us down really quickly.
On top of that his passing when he does do it isnt great and contributes to our errors.
Another who may find himself replaced shortly
Apologies for the negativity, but patience has gone now with it, tired of seeing the same players just not upto scratch but its rarely touched on.

| Looking unlikely itl be Flanagan
"He was granted permission to seek registration as an assistant coach for the next two seasons, with no guarantee or return date to head coaching duties in the future.
The 2016 premiership-winning coach said he didn't consider any coaching positions overseas because he didn't want to be on the other side of the world watching while his son Kyle played NRL with the Roosters in 2020"

Agree, posted as much after Thursday's news. Needs to be the right long term choice so if we have to wait until 2021 so be it.

I’d be happy with Purtill until the end of the season if AP can’t get who he wants in this season. He has come from outside the Hull bubble and I am sure both he & Last will change things after Radfords departure.
The departure of Radford means the cosy times are over and certain players will now have to step up or be stepped aside.
Also slightly off topic but csn we have Kammy on SL every week from now on please?

| Watson would be my choice if we were to give a shot to any of the current SL coach's,.
Daniel entering the lions den comes to mind though.
