Some posters have been criticised in the past. Perhaps it was more to do with [ihow[/i they expressed those opinions but they were still criticised and its natural for them to now point out they are being vindicated. I think we have both had very similar opinions of Agar since the day he was first appointed but we were perhpas more considered in our postings so didn't recieve the flack and dont feel the need to say we were right.

Those of us who stuck to our guns throughout last year in regards to agar's unsuitability to the position had to take a lot of stick simply because we chose to look at the wider picture rather than being sucked in by a temporary slight rise in results.

As I pointed out last night on another thread (when discussing this point with my favourite adversery Mrs Berrigan



) I honestly wish I had been proved wrong and Richard Agar was clearly taking us to the summit. I would much rather have held my hands up and eaten humble pie as we celebrated a trophy being held aloft. I take absolutely no pleasure from the fact that the opinions I expressed last year appear to have come home to roost this weekend.

Trust me, I was as brassed off as everybody else last night walking out of the ground.

You've made several posts like this, do you honestly think the players are as individually responsible as the head coach?

I'm not so sure. The modern game thinking is that players carry out the coach's plans regardless of its effectiveness. Changes to gameplans whilst the game is in progress tend to come via instructions from the bench/stands/water carrier/walkie-talkies/mobile phones.
The days when the likes of Steve Norton,Roger Millward,Alex Murphy would take a game by the scruff of the neck by effectively acting as a coach on the pitch during game time are long gone.

Feel sorry for you guys. We had the same situation with Cullen and I know the feeling of frustration. It was obvious he needed to go but he seemed able to hang on. Getting beat by Cas at home was the final straw for us. It was clear he had "lost the dressing room" and a sit in by a number of fans (albeit a minority) showed that he had lost the fans as well.

I really can't understand how Agar is still in charge. Are there no viable replacements?

You clearly have no idea what a coach does, or is supposed to do. Their job is not just to select the team and put in place a basic game plan such as 'kick to the corners' or whatever, like fans think. I see people on here criticising Agar's interchange policy but that is the least of the problems. Many fans have absolutely no idea what a coach does and how important he is.

was too soon. If an extension 'was on the cards' then it should have been considered at the end of the season.

Something must happen and quick if the club are going to salvage something from the current season.

I got a fair bit of criticism last season, yet I always said I would be happy for Agar to prove me wrong. However I have not been on here crowing about it since people have started to have the same opinion. If the boot was on the other foot I am sure certain pro Agar posters would have been quick to point out they were right to stick by him etc.

I agree with most of what you have said but I thought I was becoming the most negative poster when I want to be positiver. Perhaps if the board of directors had to pay to watch Hull play then they might have a different outlook to what is going on at out club.

I think people criticise the interchanges so much because they are one of the most tangible aspects of coaching and you can see Agar is getting it horribly wrong, but there's so much more to being a coach than a lot of people on here seem to realise.

The history of all team sports is littered with players that have underperformed under one coach and then miraculously started playing to their potential when a better coach is brought in. I can understand why people think it shouldn't be like that because the players get a lot of money etc but it's the way it is and people need to realise it.
