So if its true that the final table is based on wher you get knocked out the playoffs does that mean that if wigan get beat next week they have to hand back the league leaders shield.

Effectivly the SL'Championship' now looks like this

1 Saints
2 Leeds
3 Wigan
4 Wire
5 Hudds
6 Dobbins

So this weeks matches are 3v6 and 4 v 5

Then once these games are played, the Championship will be re-adjusted , so in theory Wigan could end up coming 5th .

If Wigan and Wire do win though and then win the semis, then normal league positions will be back to how the league season ended, although if Wire win the final, they come 1st and Pies 2nd

Saints cant finish lower than 3rd and Leeds no lower than 4th

So will they get the League Leaders Shield then? (serious question)

thats a token trophy for them who come top of the mini league bit which only purpose is to decide starting positions and fixtures for the championship

I'm not doing a disservice to anyone. I'm just telling people what the system is. I didn't invent it and neither do I necessarily agree with it. Now that we have a fixture list that gives the same games to every club I'd personally be in favour of the Champions being the team that finishes top of the table after the regular games and have the playoffs replaced by a Premiership. Not going to happen though.

I would just point out that the current system is NOT an invention of SKY or SL. For most of it's history RL has decided it's Champions via a playoff series.

Why do Sky always refer to KR as finishing 4th then from last year, if we take this view they finished 7th.

To me we finished 6th and all next year we will be told by Sky we fininished 6th, okay I know it's only Eddy and Dumbass but I will take that

Six other clubs have officially had a more successful Super League season than us.

That's the bit that I can't quite get to grips with. If we go on to beat Wigan next Friday we've had a more successful season than Wigan who won 50% more games than us

Everybody knows the rules before the season, who ever wins at old tradford are the champions.

If you listen to them they always qualify the finishing table positions with the caveat "after the weekly rounds". It's deliberately downplayed because it counts for zip.

The best way of putting it.

But being beat at home by that shower make me feel like we have lost every game 80-0 all season.

Loosing that one hurt, nearly as much as being nilled at home twice in a year.

Said this to the better half before the game, it was an all or nothing game with the ability to completely ruin any memories of the season and ensure a pretty miserable off season.
