I agree when we went this year some mates cames with us who had never seen a game of RL before and they have been to every home game since, but I thought the idea of this was to get people in Scotland interested in our game.

what a joke. To gather any new interest they need to promote this on tv, radio and paper. If its just going to be left to sky the game wont expend. The rfl really need to work hard to push this, and not just rely on regular fans turning up

but Sky OWN the game, unfortunately.

No because the 2011 season is the last one of the current 3 year period.

The 'relegated' side will be dropped in time for the 2012 season when the next 3 year period starts.

Doesnt stop the RFL from advertising the game as much as they can through other outlets?

If the RL get the marketing right on this could be a great benefit for the Game

My big problem will be cost. 6 weeks after Christmas and my eldest's birthday is not a good time to be finding however much to toodle on down to Cardiff.

A nice warm Wetherspoons will be as far as we go I'm afraid.

I like the idea, would prefer it to be derbies though.

Have to say I'm not a fan of the "Magic" concept at all, although at least next season will start with a bang compared to the last few seasons which had a single stand alone game.

Personally i think its a great way to start the season off, the RFL have a major campaign to roll out i believe and should bode well for a decent weekend, also remember that most fans are chewing their nails off by then waiting for the new season to start as well so should be a sucess, I hope it is a big one too because what RL needs is lots of good news these days to create new interest....
Also what a stadium to get to see each teams new signings, the roof will be closed , the pitch will be dead right and lets face it if you have to travel away then Cardiff is about as good as it gets, friendly, cheap and made for rugby

right now there is a bar in cardiff, name i cant just remember but the owner looks like robbie coltrane called Steve Dew covered in TVs and priced dead right too and has looked after the boys once or twice in the past ..

i have to say im no fan of the magic weekend but if we are to have it then to have it on the opening day at least gives it some sort of purpose. also im glad we are playing rugby league in cardiff again, for me it is a superb stadium in a fantastic location, built with rugby in mind it is a rugby ground.

Please come to Cardiff!! It's warmer down here in the winter anyway, when I talk to people around here (Swansea) there is a lot more interest in rugby league than ever before. I often see people with different league clubshirts round and about. Did see one rovers shirt going up the escalator in Primark as I was going on the down one, but thats the only one I have seen!

I agree with you. Fully support and enjoy MM but to have it at the start of the season closed roof or not is ridiculous. Freezing cold weather camping will now be a big no so the added expense of hotels or b&b's and not to mention having to travel that far with possible bad weather conditions. Can't see this being a popular choice.

The one thing that Cardiff is terrible for where Edinburgh was great is accomodation. Cardiff ramp up the prices massively, Edinburgh didnt.

We've attended every Magic weekend thus far. Here endeth the trail. Reasons: Wrong time of year, it's likely to be poor weather for travelling and watching. Straight after Christmas/passes/shirts etc. And not being a bank holiday.

Hull Daily Mail seem to think it will be a derby. Happy days.

I like the idea of Super league making the most of the opening round of fixtures as this has been poorly done in the past. I'd probably get off my ass and go for this one.
