| Unfortunately Houghton looks like the player he was in the last season under Radford but without his defensive resilience. BH needs to wake up to the fact he can’t play him first 80 mins. Sneyd other than his 40/20 was pretty poor along with Reynolds who all created very little on the back of a platform provided by the likes of Sao and Satae. 6, 7 & 9 gave us very little tonight and that’s a real concern.

| Fonua been pretty rubbish too, apart from maybe 2/3 games.
Too many players playing on past reputations.
Him, Houghton, Sneyd and Bowden.

| Total lack of cutting edge tonight. Had enough possession on their line and made enough line breaks tp put us in a strong position in the first half.
Second half was all Leeds and we ran out of gas.
Great game and atmosphere for 60 mins and then it petered out which was a shame.
Monday could get ugly against a fresh Saints.

I thought Reynolds did ok tonight, caused a few problems with his running game, on his own though, Wynne looks like Shaul, good running game, but doesn't have the link up play like other FB'S.

| Very disappointing. Agree with others that Sneyd was poor and starting to think it's time to move him on, can't carry someone just for their kicking game.
I'm convinced we must have signed a Fonua lookalike as that isn't the same guy from 2016/2017.
Short of at least two Props. Bowden does nothing at all.
Oh it's good to be back!

Agree we are still short a prop, but just can't see how Bowden still gets in over Brown. He deserves a run of games to see how he goes. Hopefully Taylor will be back soon too.
Having said that, even with Bowdensimkted impact, props were far from our biggest concern tonight. I'm also starting to think Sneyd's time with us should be up.

I’ll give Reynolds the benefit of just returning after covid but tonight we got very little if anything from 6,7, & 9 which with the space and platform created for them by Sao & Satae is concerning. Agree about Wynn as he has a lot more work to do on his game particularly link up play. Fonua was also pretty poor tonight and should be getting more from a player who is likely on a fair chunk of the cap.

If we put as much effort into our defence as we do in altercations with opposing players that would be a good start
As has been mentioned we cant rely on one link player when fit.
for me Sneyd is a big problem and slows our attack down and Houghton seems to have lost interest again and needs to be replaced.
Shaul is the obvious choice here when fit because tonight we saw exaclty how a quick acting half turned the game for Leeds
We still need some pace into this team and questions need to be asked about the coaches bench selection once again

| No Connor no attack.
We rolled Leeds down the pitch fairly easy tonight, had loads of good ball and did nothing with it.
Put Dwyer in our team and he'd make a world of difference.
Bowden and Houghton are done. BH doesn't seem all that confident in JJ either.
Hooker and a forward are on the wish list.

Agree. I think we are at that point now where a few players haven't impressed Hodgson and could get moved on. Johnstone is just OK, offers nothing different and hasn't improved us.
With Houghton I'm concerned it could just be too many miles on the clock now, he's been going what 14 years? With insane tackling stats in most of those. He shouldn't be doing 80mins, needs to be spelled.

| Effort there but that's it . Easy to blame Sneyd but where's all the runners for him. Leeds run at us in waves we just run sidewards. Bench was poor. Maybe to shake it up a bit start Bowden who seems to play better when starting not that he could do any worse. Also start JJ. That way with Satae Houghton Brown on the bench we have some zip and go forward. Not all is lost and we don't know how much if any the covid is taking effect. Big job to get into top 6. We need Connor Taylor Shaul savellio back soon

We need to be careful on the hooker replacement too. Roby ain't gunna last forever, if I was an overseas player I know which club I'd be looking at.
Houghton looks burnt out, I'd be tempted to release Ma'u and look in Aus for a hooker for 22.

| Think Dwyer showed tonight what a good hooker can do, he changed the whole game when he came on.Think we have to think about a change and recruit somebody who can get the team going forward. Think Danny has had his best years now and Johnson seems just too static

| To be honest I think Dwyer is a poor player overall but his energy tonight when came on for Leeds and the pace he injected in to them certainly turned the game in their favour. We just seem content to play Houghton for 80 mins and have a bench that half is unused until it’s too late and then seemingly no logic to it

No runners for Sneyd?? I've said before, they know he can't put them into gaps, and he plays too far from the line. He has to go for me, as does Houghton. Our attack has been stale for a while and we rely on Connor or Albert Kelly magic and the 2 consistent players in our poor attack are Houghton and Sneyd

| All those repeat sets in the first half but there was nothing other than bish bash and then give it to Sneyd for a diagonal kick. I thought Radford had copyright on those tactics but apparently not..
I agree that Connor might have made a big difference. He has individual brilliance which can't be coached and can turn a game. Without him Sneyd doesn't seem half as effective. Good example the brilliant 40/20 in the second half. Might as well have not bothered because the excellent opportunity quickly and deflatingly petered out into nothing.
Wynne was poor and will certainly cop a ban for his variation on a hand off - the elbow off. Reynolds will get a ban for his head butt although he was quite anonymous tonight as he has been all season so you won't miss him.
Houghton and Johnstone are possibly the worst No. 9 options in Super League. You saw how much better the Leeds duo were and I'll add that Parcell and Litten have been great for Rovers. In the modern game you need quality at No. 9.
Mahe Fonua was a liability and proof of the theory that it's never as good second time around. He'll be enjoying his marquee money though.
Those big strong forwards looked absolutely crackered in the second half but the Leeds middles who had defended so well in the first half just got stronger and stronger.
Nobody on here has given any credit to Leeds and that is quite wrong. They are shoe ins for the play offs it's just a matter of which of the Hull clubs drop out of the 6 to make way for them.
It may well be Rovers....and it might not be.......but if it's you lot what a waste of the biggest spend in the history of your club.

Hard to disagree with that.
But its important to note the recruitment errors are from 2 years ago under Radford, apart from Reynolds Hodgson hasn't brought anyone in. Pearson kept faith with Radford too long and we are still paying for that.
Some questions to be asked about Hodgson's tactics and in particular his use of the bench however. Expected to at least see a few new plays by now.

| Leeds weren’t great at all, but we made them look good. Luckily they bombed a couple of tries as well.
Was a step back tonight. Back to being camped on the opposition 25 and creating nothing.
Game plan currently is give it to Satae.
We just threw inaccurate passes down one side, then back across again. No one hit a gap at speed.
Love my club, but really struggling at the moment to get enthusiastic about the game in general.

| my observations that may have been posted
1. Pivots to Centre’s isn’t working - that’s where your magic is and we have none
2. Fonua is so unfit and the whole back room staff need a bollocking for allowing this, along with the player himself. He’s 15kg over weight easily
3. Connor Wynne - watch the play from 50-53 mins, for a 20 year old how can you be absolutely flooked just 11 mins into a 2nd half. watch how he’s hanging on in D and is basically out of it and then at 53 mins he is still blowing at the ply the ball - i just couldn’t believe it
4. Connor is our 6 and the sooner BH realises this the better for when he’s back
5. Jamie Shaul can’t defend so we have both a hooker and full back issue for me as Connor isn’t anywhere near fast enough for FB. The try v England shows that
6. time for a new hooker
7. attack needs a new philosophy
anyways there’s my thoughts

Wynne has just turned 20 and has how many starts at FB at SL level, less than a dozen over 2.5 seasons, the kid is a rookie?
Comparing him to other FB at this point in his career is somewhat unfair don't you think, he might not have what Connor has in his game, but like Shaul he has stuff in his locker than Connor doesn't.
A few years of average to poor coaching through your formative years and being out the team more than you're in isn't going to change that overnight.
