With Ellis only being contracted until 2014,do we look at a new captain for 2014 and beyond or keep Ellis for 2014?..I would personally look for a new captain as dont think he is a captain and neither is Houghton.So who would be captain if we changed? I have slated Westerman in the past but he put in some very good performances at back end of season and could be a choice but only got a year left on his contract....whats other peoples thoughts?

Maybe not this soon but Westerman will make a great captain one day.

If the club are going with the Hull and proud approach, I wouldn't be surprised if Houghton becomes our captain next season and for the long term. Always leads by example, picks the team up when we need to make ground and is arguably our best player.

Dont think houghton is a captain,does enough on the pitch without being loaded with captaincy,whiting is my fav fc player respected by everybody but is he a captain? Would be my choice cos I dont think there are many options.

I'd stick with Ellis.

Most experienced player we have. Hopefully with a full close season off and a little more fortune, he'll also have more game time next year.

Captain!!!!! Really, awful, I hope we pay his contract up and show him the door, most overrated player at hull, I think alot of our poor play is down to him, he's useless, penalty machine, mistake machine, he changes so many of our games and not in a good way. I can't wait until is contracts up

Westerman's a player who gets quite hyped and tries to gee up the other players. You often see him talking to them and trying to keep the morale up. He'd be decent as a captain on those grounds.

Unsurprising given that your posting history suggests your "support" of Hull FC amounts to:
1. Deliberately linking us falsely with players we won't sign (Benji Marshall, Chase, Lunt, Sammut, Gaskell, Larne Patrick, Bateman, Taylor amongst other)s.
2. Slating Westerman, Sharp, Horne, Moa, Gentle etc
3. Telling people you're not getting a pass.

Haha your very sad, as for rumours, if you take any of them serious, your pretty clueless, I think every single member on here hears a rumour at work etc, I wasn't the only person posting them, it's a bit if fun in the of season, as for slating players, that's complete rubbish, I very very rarely slate a hull player, your welcome to prove me wrong, as for not getting a pass, I didn't, I missed 3 home games this season and paid on gate for rest, so it probably cost me same as pass, and as for been a rovers fan, that's just laughable, westerman for me as had a couple of half decent games this season for me, making him captain when I wouldn't even have him in the team is my opinion, if you want to be clever and go through my previous post!!! I see him having a go at players, getting "hyped" giving penalties away, and dropping the ball, not the qualities I want in a captain

westerman gives penalties away just the same as any other player in SL i wouldnt deny him been future captain on that note, hes a natural leader and just wants to compete and win hence geeing up the lads, ellis as prob give as many pens away as westy but i wouldnt stop him been captain either, westerman trys to change games as he is aball playing 13 atleast he trys and works hard.

I think it's an old wives tale that he's a ball playing 13, not seen much of it, since he's been here, how long are people going to carry on saying it, don't get me wrong, I'd love him to be that player, but I think it's time to face the facts, that he isn't, hope he proves me wrong next season, he probably will! Then do one to a bigger club, don't start, Wigan, leeds are a bigger club at the minute

It's more about where and when in gives the penalties away for me, always seems to be when we've got teams under the cosh or on last tackle

it is frustrating when its last tackle but westerman gets through a lot of unnoticed work hes prob on the field to many minutes since he came the game as changed were as he was a ball playing 13 to been as a 3rd prop like gallen does so hes prob frustrated himself.

Whiting is one of the worst culprits of this.

Westerman had had a good season, in fact he has been a good buy, just because we paid for him, people get on his back.

I agree with some of that, but please lets not compare him to gallen, that man is a warrior, I wouldn't mind a 13 like him, now that's a captain for you, he's got my vote for 2014 ha oh yeh rumour as it he's signed on a 3 year deal, don't take that to serious mrs b haha

All them stats show, is he plays to many minutes, we defend alot, our forwards don't bust tackles, and he offloads the ball, to what effect those off loads lead to, not much as far as I can remember, and I totally agree about using him out wide, in fact it would be nice to any of our forwards run wide rather than come back inside, are we the only team in sl who doesn't try getting our big men out wide going at smaller opposition, really hope radfords got some good ideas, the decîsion of going for radford is growing on me, he's saying all the right things, just hope he can put it into practice
