| Fonua has been suspect the past couple of weeks in defence. He has made a few poor reads allowing Gibson and the dragons to score some simple tries.
Jack Logan was dropped for a lot less earlier on in the season. Is it time to give him another go in the first team? I think so.
I get the feeling that Radford is just waiting for Carlos to return to fitness and he will fill in at right centre, with Fonua dropping to the wing, even though I think Curtis deserves the wing spot.
I like Fonua and think he's offered us a lot going forward but I also rate Logan and think he's been treated a little harsh

| Defending on the flanks is all about trust and I get the impression Fonua doesn't trust Pryce and over protects him which just causes more problems for Naughton who has to follow Fonua and leave his winger free.

| Only played a few games together, can only get better with time, as an outside back you should always defend tight on your inside man, players are taught to defend inside then slide out as attack goes wide, it's about reading the plays more then anything.

Agree on Pryce. Radford hinted that Carlos will be back for the Cup game. I think he'll go straight to stand off.

| He is really a winger playing centre, so learning different defensive roles. I reckon as a Niger his defensive style is likely to be show them the outside and then put them in row z. At centre he is getting moved around.

You see tries against catalans? I watched them. Not even by stretching my imagination can I lay blame for any on him. At a stretch I can blame 1 on noggers. Pryce defo the 1st. But generally the whole right is slightly off. Which Fonua covers pretty well in today's paper

| Yes I have seen the catalans try's. Fonua does make a poor read for Andersons first. This isn't a Fonua bashing and I agree that the right side needs to work a little better together.
But the point here is that Logan got dropped for less and I think he deserves an opportunity again

You are making assumptions here.
Check out the Catalan away game on You Tube. Notice their tries (both Pat Richards) were scored in almost identical plays to the ones Richards scored at the KC on Friday. Fonua was not playing in France. Its a weakness on that side for us with Catalans have exploited. To point the finger at Fonua is hash to say the least.
I like Fonua, he runs the ball in with real purpose.
Personally I think Pryce has been a little ineffective and this has a knock on effect to our attack (Sneyd doing all the creating) and our defence, as has been pointed out on this thread.

| I like Fonua too, he offers a lot going forward and changed the Rovers game late on
I was at the catalans home game and appreciate what you're saying about the right side in general, Pryce is another conversation all together
I just think Fonua would be more valuable as a winger, with his go forward, similar to Talanoa. Centre is a difficult position to defend in, why I think Yeaman has been so valuable this season and I personally don't think Fonua has been defensively smart enough this year with his goal line defence. I thought Logan was making better choices up until a bad game against Wakey and I think he could make a positive impact on the right.

| Atm fonua offers more than Logan. IMO think Pryce is the weak link and time to give tuimvare a run at stand off

No he doesn't. Pryce comes out n ball watches and does nothing by which time it's too late for Fonua to cover for him. Fonua blasted him as well for it on the way to stand under the posts. Pryce who ain't short on mouth just pretty much accepted it

This is exactly why his defensive failings (at Centre) get overlooked by some. Same for Talanoa.

| SL teams seem to pass/attack from right to left, it's players natural way of passing, making most teams right side defence more exposed, making more tackles & having most of the plays finishing that way.

| Logan has the potential to be much the better attacking threat, but defensively didn't look great though acknowledge that the issues down that side weren't all down to him.
MF is overweight/unfit and not a patch on his NRL form. Very dissapointing tbh.
Michaels Is still the best all round centre we have and I hope he's injured because it's a travesty that he's being left out the side at the moment.
I wouldn't be unhappy at Logan getting anither go at the expense of Fonua

| It's a whole new edge who haven't played together but Pryce doesnt look at all fit. He was pedestrian against Wakey and on Friday. If Carlos is fit he has to play 6 for me.

does any one think that Thompson at r/centre would work? we signed him as a centre iirc. Against leeds he caught their winger, so he's got enough pace. very good defence, and great footwork. Be gentle with me please!

| I'm a big Thompson fan, but he isn't as good in defence as you put it. Often gets caught out and flings his arms about too much trying to grab the shirts instead of wrapping them up. As for playing centre, I'd pass on the idea. He's effective coming off the bench.

On the flip side, you could say its only the fact that Yeaman was considered strong in defence that overlooked his lack of speed or ability to put his winger away.
There are very few players who excel in all areas of the game.
I think this criticism of Fonua is a bit hash.

| So if Yeaman can't get his winger away on the left then why do we always play our most defensively sound centre on the left with more that half the big plays going down the right?
Would Fonua find it easier to defend on the left, would Yeaman improve the right side defence?
