Interesting to see that there is nothing at the JJB or Galpharm also and that the RFL are putting their eggs in the 'wembley showcase' basket. Big risk I think

I'm glad that the international scene is back at the KC but have to agree I think they will struggle to sell tickets or have anywhere near a sell out for the wembley showcase, but I suppose it's worth a try.

international rugby league at wembley fantastic all we need now is for the rfl to really promote this thing and make sure we get a decent crowd i personally would of held it at emerites if possible. the rest of the venues ect dont fill me with excitment at all they have gone for small heartlands stadiums agaion hopeing for packed stadiums which i see the logic but i personally woudnt of done that. great to have internationals back at kc lets make sure we pack it and make it a great occasion

Shame they have gone for NZ v Wales and Eng v Aus at wembley. Most likely two one sided affairs, would have been tempted if it was Aus v NZ and Eng v Wales as it would have been two entertaining games.

I dont think the Wembley thing will work to be honest....i cant see it being anywere near a full house and the atmosphere will be terrible..

Can see this being another 2 horse race with Wales this years whipping boys! Does anyone decent actually play for Wales these days???

As for England v NZ at the KC...its good to have it back and the best place for international rl IMO.

Shocking decision to hold it at Wembley, will they actually make any money out of that given the costs? As much as I think the Emirates is a great idea in theory (& I'd quite like to see the GF or MM weekend held there) it would be equal folly for an international at this moment in time. What's the sense having a 60k+ capacity stadium for probably a sub 30K crowd?

Love the fact Wiganers are bitching about the audacity to not hold a game at theirs.

LOT of money being earmarked with massive localised promotion for the Wembley date!!
dont write it off yet given its novelty it could be a huge day out!!

the rfl seem to like half packed stadiums look at magic weekends as a prime example there still seen as a succes

but the rfl would get slagged of for staging our big games at small sized stadiums its great for the international game that wembley is going to stage a big double header hopefully both on the bbc what a day cant wait. its now upto the rfl to really sell this event and do everything they can to get 50k or more cheap tickets, offers to season pass holders, work with the clubs to promote the game with coaches from grounds ect, work with all commuinity clubs offering good prices for them

but they wont.... lets face it rugby league is a small sport in this country

the super league grand final?, challenge cup final?, the international game has to improve and some people dont relize that and the rfl are trying to implement some things with this been 1 of them to improve the international game. now like i say the rfl now have to promote this thing from now on till the day of the game doing things like ive suggested and make sure we get over 50k

i no they do but 50k for two internationals is just embarresing

2009 england vs aussie got about 22-23k and for a game between wales and kiwis over here would get 10k give or take a couple of thousand or whatever but my point is obviously putting those crowds together does not equal 50k so 50k at wembley for the double header would be a success but the rfl have to make sure they get that.

I'd put money on there been under 50k, without a shadow of a doubt, even if they gave away tickets to local schools I still couldn't see that figure.
There's promoting the game and being over ambitious and by doing so having a negative affect on the game itself by projecting the image to outsiders that even for a big international match we couldn't even half fill wembley. Thats suggests that we ARE indeed a minority sport.
The fact that the profit from the event will be a whole lot less than say holding it at the likes of the Ricoh arena stadium with the same attendance, full stadia, better atmosphere and a heck of a lot more accessible to fans from the M62 corridor speaks volumes of the RFL!

There has been a crowd of 73,631 for GB v the Aussie in 92 and another over 66k in 95, i cant see a problem with attaining a crowd of 50k or more this year.

And that was 16+ years ago. The last 40k international att for a UK based game was for the world cup game at Old Trafford in 2000 44K, right on the doorstep of some of the biggest clubs in the game. I'd love it if we filled Wembley, but I just can't see it even been half full.

Due to the current financial climate I can see plenty of people skipping this one. I cannot justify forking out that kind of money to watch 2 games when my team are not involved, especially when i can sit at home and watch it.

They need to price it right like they do with MM

That will be the key to it, if they get the prices right then we might get a decent crowd.
