Quote ="Jake the Peg"Last night we had 7 out of the first choice 17 missing, that's almost half of those who would be playing. Despite that we really could have won had those on the pitch performed at even a half decent level. Is that progress or does it indicate that some of those players just aren't up to it?
If you look at the younger players
fash
masi
downs
logan
miloudi
scott
How many of those do you see developing into top SL players or even regular SL level starters?
Our attacking structures are poor - do we play like leeds under mcdermott? Too off the cuff with not enough structure or is it just because our main organiser isn't on the pitch (sneyd)
Defensively we aren't as aggressive as some teams. We seem to have a static defensive line and give away too many metres easily. Our goal line defense isn't good enough, our wingers constantly jamb in creating easy tries out wide and our compressed defense doesn't spread quickly enough creating space on the outside.
We still don't have a mindset of backing up meaning breaks invariably don't turn into tries and our passing is woefully slow and easy to read what we are doing.
Plenty to fix up IMO but you really can't judge this season too harshly given the long and numerous injuries to key players. If we finish the season in 5th it will have been a reasonable achievement IMO.
And for those amongst us saying about cas and their heroic performances - what happened to them last weekend?'"
We got battered by a very good Catalans team on the day. That's the thing with injuries, the young players coming in cannot replace the injured players on a consistent basis.
As an outsider looking in, Hull have had a terrible time with injuries this season, not just numbers but key players. I think you should cut the team some slack, 5th is a good position all things considered and you still have a shot at the 4, especially if you can get some key players back.
