I hadn’t realised that the change to the contract date had come into effect from 01/12/2024. This means that any player whose contract expires in 2025 can talk to other clubs from this date. We are following the NRL where you hear of players signing for another club during the season.

Yes this was something announced a while back. Any player we don’t have signed for 2026 can now talk to other clubs. Good for players sorting future but I find it strange that a player could sign for another club before even pulling on a shirt for its current club.


I think I posted a few times that our obvious big one is Max Jowitt who it would be criminal to lose him when he’s about to hit his prime years when full backs are at their best.

I guess it encourages long term contracting.

There are a few players on the list that would make excellent additions for 2026 and beyond. I can imagine it’s very busy and agents are very busy too right about now.

If Mills is continuing as he did before he already had the players in mind and the change if dates will only help him because he's already ready to go.

Completely agree, these changes are built for a forward thinking club.

Realistically if we aim to bring in 2/3 players of quality who will improve the squad over the next few years it’s not unreasonable to predict us challenging like Hull KR are now.

3-5 I would keep from that list. One of them certainly should t have ended up on that list at all. Dissapointing we have allowed that to happen.

Only Rourke, Jowitt, Booth and Atoni for me.

Pretty much similar.

There’s always the chance for a few players to surprise though in 2025.

There are question marks over many of the players regarding their ability or effectiveness at Superleague level.
We can make guesses even educated guesses and there are some players we’d put money on being a success at a higher level but we don’t know.
Best to wait and see who can step up and who found their ceiling at Championship level. Then we can make informed decisions about who gets a longer contract and who we let go

Very much hoping we hear some good news on Max Jowitt soon. I do hope he stays with us.
