Absolutely. Clearly racist abuse is something to be tackled strenuously but a pitch invader is an individual potentially attacking a player or official. Needs to be stopped with major consequences, whether drunk or not.
Plenty more examples beside the one above like the SA ref with dislocated shoulder and Monica Seles at the height of her career stabbed on court.
If the players defend themselves they then get penalised which is even more ridiculous.
