Quote ="Egg Banjo"Tonight was the 150th anniversary celebration event and what a lovely service it was. Very well attended and with some beautiful songs and moving speeches covering the history of the club by the mayor, former MP, and cathedral canon.
The service opened with a roaring rendition of Jerusalem sung by the entire congregation as the choir proceeded, followed by perhaps one of the most beautiful renditions of abide with me sung by the full choir which barely left a dry eye in the house, and finished with a hearty singing of the national anthem.
I know there is much that separates us as fans at times, but tonight was a celebration of more than the current version of the club. It was a celebration of a club and community which has over the past 150 years left a massive legacy on the city'"
Yes just got home myself, enjoyed it, I thought former Wakefield MP spoke well even without his reading glasses.
John Minards had a few encouraging words to say which brought a round of applause, both he and MC mixed with everyone after the service and seemed relaxed, 150 years in existence, and I’ve witnessed 70 of them, I’ll be watching them for as long as I can.
