He has a familiar name but bears no relation to the player with the same name who played for us in the first half of the season . He is called Renouf Atoni and is a strong running prop.

What the has happened to him? Honestly, he was next to useless for the first fifteen games and it's quite clear there has been a massive change in attitude and the way he carries the ball. Very bizarre.

He was very good vs KR, Salford and now Wigan.

Fair play to the guy. Looks like he’s really putting big shifts in. Him and Dave are rolling teams on the back foot.

Spoke to a pie fan in the Conny Club and he was worried about our middles - especially Big Dave and the Roof.
Turned out he was right.....

Proctor has always tried but never looked fit enough!
He went ok last night I thought - it seems both Atoni and Proctor may be hitting the form we need at exactly the right time!
With Dave, Bowden, Battye, Atoni, Eseh, Whitbread and Proctor if needed, we've never had as many SL quality props - all firing well at the moment too!

I’ve been very critical of Atoni as he was playing like an absolute pudding for what ever reason. Since his return he has been very good, doubling and tripling his metres per game from previous. Glad he’s finally turned up.

Long settling in period. Whatever has happened to him for the past three games it's very much welcome.

I think he is just a bit shy ??
Last week after we beat Salford, Big Dave was his usual boisterous self in front of the Northstand and Atoni just tagged along behind him and looked very uncomfortable joining in and there is a video on Twitter from last night showing the guys singing the victory song in the dressing room (led by Dave of course !!) and Atoni is in the back-ground, again looking a bit sheepish at first but then starts spraying the ale and giving it 'the beans'





It looks as though Dave has taken him under his wing and is now finally getting him to come out of his shell, whereas before now, he didn't even look like he could break his way out of it...

The Fifita effect , not only has he got the team to believe in themselves he’s also took it upon himself to help Atoni to realise his potential

We knew there was a player in there with Atoni and it’s breaking out now which is great. This could be a turning point for Atoni. Realising that with the right effort and attitude he can be a strong prop.

I’m looking forward to seeing Dave and Atoni and the rest of the forwards fill out against Hudds. They had a big say in the win at Wigan and they should be proud. That’s what you get when you roll your sleeves up and play for your team. Looking forward to watching it again tonight on trinity tv.

So the big question I guess.
If Dave isn't here next year. Would you retain Atoni?

Yes....think we are just starting to see exactly what he is capable of



I've heard a rumour that we are talking to Dave about next year too

Need a few more performances like we’ve seen and then might be worth talking about it.

Dave is playing busted and according to lads who see him up at the all blacks that’s it , this is his final hurrah at least on the playing front .

Would depend on the market and which league we are in. Is he worth a quota spot if we stay in Super League and have more ability to splash the cash.... I'm not sure.

If he wants a year in the Championship - yes
