So rather than study strengths and weaknesses in the existing squad, have a good pre season we’ve managed to find a completely untried approach to the game.

At the end of the previous season we get rid of some our best log term performers, follow that up by selling younger players that we’ve spent years in development. Starting the season our recruitment seems to have focused on giving long term contracts to old men past their best. Rather than searching and making best use of our newly freed up quota spots we waste them on a show pony and a has been. The season starts we realise we’ve really screwed up and offer a three year deal to a full back that we’d previously felt the need to replace with a second string full back from kr.

Having lost every game to date we then decide to start again and recruit a team of short term trialists, a former legend and a couple of lads that once walked past fartown.

I never thought I’d see a team in super league with some one else and a n other in the starting line up but we ain’t far away ..,

Indeed. There is a limit to what they can do now but they are trying to get fresh bodies in as we are getting longer term injuries.
Seems a good idea to me.

At least we are doing something, albeit, a little too late in the day.
We will probably need to win 5/6 of our remaining fixtures and we have more players injured than fit (possible exaggeration).
Something had to be done.

I think all this just goes to show how utterly woeful our retention and recruitment was in the off season.

Yes we have finished up with the worst squad we have ever had in SL in my opinion. However when an accountant who knows very little about rugby League is rugby director and CEO it's hardly a surprise.

However at least someone is now trying to do something about the mess. It must be extremely difficult to recruit players mid season who are prepared to sign up for a team heading rapidly towards the championship.

Therefore I think we should hope we start to turn things around. These are not earth shattering signings but at least someone is trying ,so I am supportive of these players comming in.

so tell me oh omnipotent one what single facet of the Wakefield team performance has improved since game one ?!if you can convince me then I ll happily donate ten grand to the club

Didn’t get to show it today for some weird reason though. Constantly in and out of the team. Can’t see how Bowden, Battye or even Proctor at prop are better than him.

Recruitment's been e for ages, wasn't it 3 years ago we only had I player Lino coming in and 9 going out.
Who in all honesty would want to be a coach in that position.
