Is it just going to be more of the same or are we going to bring in an experienced coach who can motivate the players and put some attacking structure in place or are we going to keep taking other clubs rejects and short term second division French players and expecting a miracle. When are we going to hear something from the club?

I think we'd benefit from another fans forum night, we held one last year when we were in (IMO) a much better position than we are now.

That said we'd only see a benefit if there was something for the club to reassure fans with, new signings, plans from Mash, positives.

I was thinking about this yesterday. To be honest there’s three options.

1. Change the coach.
2. Boost the playing squad.
3. Cut costs as much as possible with a view to remaining full time and being the front runner in championship 2024 - prepping early by retaining our youth and best players on SL/Championship agreements.

Both will cost. If we are to change the coach then I’d like to see Apelgarth back to assistant but there’s no point changing unless it’s a strong experienced coach. No Danny Wards or Radford etc. it needs to be a quality appointment.

If that’s not an option then there needs to be at least a plan to get our season going. The simple fact is that in the team there are passengers at the moment who should be leaders but are making errors and not performing to SL standard.

The right edge was appalling yesterday and not for the first time. All breaks and try’s came through the Lyne/Smith/Hewitt combination.

Lyne/Ashurst I have been incredibly disappointed with this season. Lyne looks a shadow of himself and checks his run jinking on the spot instead of running his weight which I have to say he doesn’t look very mobile for a back these days. He also shoots in way too much leaving Kershaw high and dry. I expect better from him.

I have backed Kay for the 9 role for a good while but I’m afraid after last few weeks I find him lacking in that role or certainly with us not on the front foot enough. Can’t see how Bowes doesn’t get in ahead of him. I won’t ever knock Kay for effort though.

I think radical changes are needed at the moment in the squad. The likes of Eseh/Bowes need to play I think now too.

Id like to see Shaw and Croft brought back. We are paying them anyway so just agree a contract with both and bring Croft into centre and Shaw for prop. Croft actually came good back end of last season in centre. We desperately need more pave and mobility out wide too and he has that. As we are already paying them it wouldn’t take a whole lot more imo.

People are giving Proctor a hard time. He’s not the issue. Teams carve us up on the edge all year. Though I want to see more from Proctor he doesn’t miss tackles, works hard and puts solid shifts in. The issue is further out.

If Mash is going to stay some positions need shaking up that’s for sure.

Hopefully some honest conversations with certain players from Applegarth will lead them to do the honourable thing and leave the club and go back to Australia giving an opportunity for the club to bring in an experienced 6 like Corey Norman.

What next indeed! When Mash was appointed, I bought into the plan of an exciting young coach who'd done well with the juniors and, from some accounts, had played a big hand in getting those crucial 5/6 wins at the end of last season.Whether that last bit is true,i've no idea, but it would be nice to get the definitive tale from someone someday.I thought the trial matches were very mixed, happy with the way we played second half v Fev,but also a little worried how Halifax opened us up in the first match, and dismayed how Hull steam rollered us in the last match,even taking into account all the juniors we had playing.I was less than impressed with our start to the season, but kept looking for small signs of improvements in ensuing games, but they never really happened,and in fact I'm now resigned to getting relegated.I know the team is crap,but even so there doesn't seem to be any structures.
So,and it gives me no pleasure to say it, we need a new coach immediately! If,and I suspect this may be the case, we decide to keep Mash on to build a new team in the Championship,all I can say is that if he can't do it now, he won't do it then either,IMO.

It's a nice thought but why would they walk away from their guaranteed money? They ain't getting a gig eleswhere so would only lose out financially if they accepted a pay off. We'd have to offer them pretty much the full amount to tempt them which we can't afford to do then go get a replacement. So unless one is majorly homesick, can't wait 6 months and walks then it's not going to happen.

Let's put it this way Carter and Co must be prepared to take a hit no other way out. I suppose if you look at how much can be lost if they do nothing and then get relegated it's a simple choice.

just seen, we either had to give up our compensation rights, or keep paying them both until December 1st of the year they turn 22. Where's the logic behind not giving up the rights. We'd be due £50k for Croft and £30k for Shaw. Was it not blatantly obvious nobody was going to pay that, so we stopped two of our academy lads from being able to play over here, but had to continue to pay them.. absolute genius from MC

Won't happen, it hasn't in the last 13 years it's not going to happen now we are facing the trap door and the financial risk that will bring. It was only a couple of weeks ago Carter was talking about any movement having to be swaps. I guess a straight cash sale of a big earner would also surfice. Either way to bring anyone else in someone will have to leave to balance the books and lets be honest it's not going to the useless ones other clubs are interested in is it?

I was disappointed we didn't keep Croft as I thought he progressed nicely following his long layoff injured. He would probably be in for Lyne now especially as Hall as left.
Although I was impressed with Shaw's aggression during his early Academy years I never really understood the hype around him in his later years. Always rumoured to be some friction around his relationship with the club so hardly surprising that he's getting his two penneth in. Wouldn't really be in front of Eseh, although neither should Atoni.

Good to see that while Trinity were serving up a pile of the proverbial, Corey Hall was smashing it at KR and made the SL team of the week.

.. and Dagger picked up an injury on Sunday so it looks even more stupid a decision to do the swop

I've been saying this for a while saw this kid for awhile hull academy never rated him could run a bit always thought he was a soft lad now the chicken as come to roost when a bit of leadership is needed there's as I suspected nowt there

The only justification i can think of, and it’s a pretty flimsy one, is after our guaranteed flogging at Wigan next weekend there is a two week break due to the international games. That may be a better time to change as it gives more time to get someone else in and let them get some training sessions with them. Other than that i’m stumped.

I genuinely feel for Applegarth. No doubt he's busting his balls off and the mental pressure must be enormous right now, a very lonely place, but it's clearly not working for whatever reason and the merciful thing to do now would be to replace him. If he stays at the club fair enough I'd have no issue with that.

More of the same im afraid. But being a realist we've always been on the backfoot in superleague with lack of funds,poor crowds & no money men.But for all that i`ve always always enjoyed going to watch our underdogs play because a lot of are old reject signings have had a point to prove, and turning over top side made for great scenes in our crappy old ground.But this week was dreadful and the big money signings are woeful aand have no affinity to wakefield,but everbody knows if they were decent they would not be here,and its quite clear to all the fans that they probably wish they weren`t. what a shamblesall through the club

His comments don't appear to suggest he's under pressure to me. Why doesn't he resign then if it's too much for him?

If Proctor and Atoni play against Wigan, it sadly shows he has not grasped the issues and that will make many ANGRY, again.
If they are in the squad to play, I wouldn’t waste any money to travel.
