Looks like channel 4 will be showing super league games next season , don’t know the ins and outs of the deal but it has to be a positive step in the right direction to get our game viewed by a wider audience and hopefully hook people in and get down to watch a game , who will then hopefully become lifelong supporters of their chosen club

Very interesting because bbc tipped to be showing SL games about 6 months ago.
I think C4 will make a good show of it.

4 seem very good at publicising and promoting their coverage of sport too.

Really exciting for the game and a great opportunity to expose the greatest game to a new audience.

Season tickets holders may be put out due to some unconventional kick off times but hopefully they see past this and back it too.

Ten games spread over twelve clubs shouldn't inconvenience many, but you never know.

The only issue with the 12:30 kick off IMO is we’d be competing for an audience with the early football kick offs on Sky and BT. But otherwise great news. Hopefully they’ve got competent commentators who can actually get the players name right.

Lets hope they do a top job and wither want the full gig at some point in the future or, increase the profile of the sport and make other broadcasters more interested.

Agree with everything that's been said here - has to be positive for the game in general, will hopefully even lead to an increase in interest at Schools level, outside the traditional areas that include RL in their makeup anyway....

C4 have promoted and presented sport well IMO, so I'm expecting good things here...... factor in their National HQ move to Leeds and they could be looking to be much bigger players in our regional interests, including sport.....

As a matter of interest, is C4 regional? I don't think it is, in which case it will be nationwide and not buried in the regions like the BBC used to do. so when it comes to introducing new audiences it's ideal.

There could also be a highlights show that would be great.

I think your right, when I said national I knew it was nationwide I just wasn't sure if it has regional variations.

They also have a pretty good streaming service for catch up. 4 is actually a really good medium for us I think.
It'll be important to get those games right so they come back for more.

Couldn't agree more. I hate subsidised tickets but for ten games a season to make our game look more dynamic I'd do it.

£10 refund to all ST holders for that game and £10 tickets for the rest. The RFL to pick up the tab with the club, say 70/30 in the club's favour.

Channel 4 always try forward thinking ideas , the recent Paralympics been a success over the past 9 years. Also they introduced us to Serie A football in the 90s, up until then I had only heard of Lazio because Gazza had played for them. They don`t seemed phased to introduce new programmes , so hopefully this might push Rugby League in to the public eye.

Another plus is that the new Channel 4 HQ is in Dirty Leeds - can only be a help as far as I can see......

Don’t think so, think it’s on the main one. But they are all free to air so it would be available to all but clearly not as obvious.

RFL? The deal's with Super League so promoting games probably sits with individual clubs.

Could be great for us this one, lets hope Adam Hills promotes the game in the usual manner using his profile (although the game took a bit of ribbing on The Last Leg Tonight).

Good news for the game this, their cricket and rugby union coverage were much better than the same games on the BBC.

Well I think we are in for a treat having just watched a bit of channel 4s coverage of harlequins v Cardiff reds ,when the viewing public get to see rugby played how it should be it’s going to knock the socks of people watching for the first time compared to the stop/start /kick game I just watched

I quite enjoyed the game to be honest but I did think the coverage was good and like the idea of C4 covering rugby league.
