| Nobody seems to have mentioned it yet but I thought the referee seemed a little biased tonight, but surely that can't be true!!!

| The six again rule is too subjective for me, I've heard Hicks explain what's gets a reset and what doesn't and its very technical but from a spectator point of veiw the difference around the ruck between the two sides was negligible yet Cas seemed to get a few more set restarts, or that's how I perceived it at the game.

Quite right. Cas got four, we got none, but they seemed to be holding us down for considerable lengths of time.

When the scores were close Cas got a few relieving 6 agains Consecutive sets mid set to get them out of their own 20/30 zone. It relieved a lot of pressure off them.
I wouldn’t mind but when Wood, TJ etc landed on their front and were trying to get a quick play they then got turned over and wrestled for what seemed like an age and no six again came. We got pinged 3 sets in a row for holding down and we were scared to hang on too long which allowed Cas a lot of quick plays.
Don’t get me started on the half break where we were trying to get up and the Cas player wrapped the ball so the whole Cas team got back onside and the ref just assumed there was a fight over the ball so allowed a ludicrous amount of time to pass. It’s either a Cas ball or a wakey penalty. I just don’t understand some of the calls.
Cas chanced their arm and wrestled away stopping us from any quick plays because the ref didn’t ping them.
Whether there was a technical difference I don’t know but I have this six again. I just can’t see any consistency.
I won’t say it caused us to lose but I just can’t see any consistency at all.

| As bad as Moore was, he wasn’t at fault for our players watching Mata’utia run across them to set up Turner’s try. Or responsible for Jowitt’s error, or Arundel’s pathetic tackle for their fourth try. Or the e passing and kicking.

| Not the best of games and most 50 50 calls going with Cas.
Its odd when the video referee s not used, particularly on a grounding issue

| Stop blaming refs every week. They don't make handling errors or concede silly penalties. The mentality of a lot of our fans blame them all the time, rather than looking inward
Every week when we hear who the ref is, you hear, "well thats us beat"
I watched the game back last night, and I think we had some marginal forward passes go our way.

| I thought his interpretation of what a six again for Cas was so different to what it would be for us. Seemed to be times when it was two to three seconds of lying on and nothing given and then we did it for less and got punished. There was some stupid penalties for high shots as well.

The thing is that we are on the wrong end of the 6 again and ball steal count pretty much every game regardless of who is in charge. We never seem to learn and dare I say lack professionalism in many ways. I have never seen a team concede so many penalties whilst in possession of the ball .. criminal !

I accept all the comments regarding the inadequacies of our play, which contributed greatly to our downfall, but that doesn't stop the FACT that Moore was biased towards the opposition. It is possible that referees can affect results , you know!!

| Going slightly off topic on the referees decision making. But I see them as part of the games that are played, and it would be nice to hear there comments of the game they officiated, especially as the coaches have to come out and face the media straight after the whistle, sometimes seething on the decisions the officials may have made. I know this will never happen, but sometimes one decision can change the result of a game.

I agree whole heartedly with what you say.
I also disagree with the fallacy that, like judges in the law courts, they are infallible and not responsible to anyone else for their decisions. I would love to see a referee come on the TV and apologise to fans and say. " Sorry! I got it wrong", but i can't see that happening any time soon.

At least judges give a summary of the evidence before their judgement, which becomes the test case for that offence or adds to previous judgements to try to maintain consistency in the law...refs have nothing similar that's ever in the public domain, if they do have a shocker their disciplinary equivalent is behind closed doors and the reasons they are stood down for the next week(s) are never revealed...opportunity missed or what

Exactly!! You've captured much more succinctly what I was trying to say myself Steve. Referees seem to have the opinion of themselves that they are answerable to God and no one else.

| They are doing a job.
Why would their review have anything to do with fans?

Club reps cant comment without getting fined.
We are purchasers of the product of which they are part of quality control.

| Somebody has to make the decisions during game time it can't be outsourced to fans, or journo's.
The ref has to feel comfortable that he can make the calls on the spot without the pressure of frame by frame critique days after the fact outside his immediate peers, or else who the hell would do it.
Who in their right mind would accept a weekly quiz barrage of if buts and maybe's from a bunch of twitbook loons embittered by losing a game.
Ref's are human, they make mistakes, its impossible to get every call to everyone's liking especially when opinions are so partisan.
He had a bad game for us, it may be the other way round next week, accept > move on.

| I understand what you`re saying about feeling comfortable about the ref using his own judgement, but if thats true ,why have a video ref, and while on about Video refs I cannot understand why they can`t have an input of incidents what the ref misses. I know it would be like var in football but if we have the technology why not use it to its fullest ability.

| I have, and probably always will have, the opinion that referees have their favourites and been shouted down in the past for thinking this. Apart from PT, who seems to stand almost alone in most of his opinions, and thinks fairies live at the bottom of his garden, must sometimes have an idea that refs are biased. That's why I don't believe referees should be involved in games that include their home town club.
