Certainly a Gifted player on his day. We've done well with older stars with Price, Leuluai, Norton even Brough depending on your view.

Gigot no, too much of an hot head for me and ordinary at best else he’d already have a gig in SL. Marshall would be good , probably wants a decent wedge beyond Wakefield’s salary cap, but if he can produce like he can then a gamble for those clubs that can afford to cut their losses. But if he does come cheap and matches Broughies salary, who may be retiring reading the papers, then who knows. A SL coach once told me that good half’s are like rocking horse sheite, so if Brough does go I don’t think there’s many options out there, again all depends on wages.

Big name and nobody can knock what he's produced in the past but I think Cas have got it right, 4 players who could comfortably play Halfback with their average age being 25.

No doubt about it Marshall has been " a good un" and had a decent career, but suppose you're a twenty/twenty one year old promising half back at a SL club and they sign him on three times the money you're on. Doesn't do much for your confidence and career does it.
Not that we have the money anyway, but if we had, I would hope MC would not be in the race to sign him.

) and how I might feel if I'd worked hard to try and establish myself only to find a 35/36 year old coming in and 'jumping the queue' and getting more money than me for doing it.

Was talking to Anthony Farrell, ex Rhinos, at work about the similar situation at Warrington with Inglis and he also was concerned about these players walking straight into a team when you’ve got youngsters busting a gut to get a break.

When you put the age on it I agree I'd expect them to be disappointed but in reality any kid who lets his performance drop through disappointment of a better player being signed would probably not make it anyway. Need to use that to fuel your desire to be the best you can be.

Just heard on the radio over here this morning that Hull FC and Wigan are in the race to sign him ,reasons being Albert Kelly (hull) and Thomas Leulli (wigan) are leaving at end of this year.

Regarding Hull, weren’t they asking for a government bail out not long since as they wouldn’t survive this Pandemic? Then want to sign a (possibly) £250,000 per season player?

His salary was reported to be £270k but this was back in 2011/12, I'd imagine the figure to be more "Super League" especially at the age of 35/36. Plus when you deduct Kelly's wages, it's not like they're adding his salary onto what they've already got.

None of it seems worth it for any club though for the year he'll be over here.

Clubs will be lucky to survive this never mind spending a fortune on future contracts.

A great player once but past it now, he brings very little. If our game is ever to recover from losing to PNG last year we need to stop going for these sort of players and actually develop some talent.

Exactly. I personally think it was better for the development of our own talent, when there was a limit on the number of 'foreign' players a club could sign,but I suppose that ship has sailed.

We have 2 players at the club who can be the future half backs for years to come . Both are loyal club men . One is already ready to play stand off and has in my opinion never let the club down whatever position he had played in . His name is Max Jowitt. The other will be ready soon and just needs to be introduced in to first team football gradually. His name is Connor Bailey. But if you'd rather spend money we haven't got on a player looking for a last pay day before retirement ( Marshall) and another who has never made it in super League ( Lilley ) and destroy team spirit ......
