Hope everyone is safe and well.
I have not heard anything from the RFL re the event.
I am not concerned about the money that I have paid for my weekend match tickets, that will stay with the club, but really need to know if the event cancelled.
I ask this so that I can cancel my accomodation in Newcastle and get my money/vouchers sorted.
Has anyone got an idea what's happening?

I believe MC said they are looking at July at the earliest for games so Magic won’t happen any time soon and I also can’t see hotels being in business so cancelling is the only option or holding the booking until it ever goes ahead could be an option.

No chance of it happening.

I cancelled our accommodation last weekend. Even if event isn't cancelled there's no way I'm going to an event attended by so many people. I'm currently in a 12 week lockdown, which could still be extended.

This provides a great chance to dump the "Magic" anomaly and return the league to a purer basis of playing all opponents home and away once per season. This is surely the only fair way a league can operate when relegation is factored in.

Don’t agree. Magic Weekend helps bring something unique that other sports don’t have.

If it could be done it would be fantastic to get the league season back on track with Magic Weekend. What a promotion for the sport.

Expect the clubs would like a cup round first for maximised income

Would be extremely irresponsible to put so many people in a stadium to watch a sporting fixture with us still being in lockdown. I have a friend who lost a parent (not in bulnerable age group) to this dreadful virus.

No one is talking about any stadiums being opened until lockdown is over. It’s is likely to be in to July before any games are on. Talking hypotheticals here

MW will definitely not be on this season. I don’t agree with getting rid of it permanently.

I agree on binning the MW I also think foreign clubs should be binned and looking at the 'intelligence' picture on Corona Virus I cannot see any sport gatherings for the foreseeable future due to the possibility of a second wave of the virus, unless some scientist comes up with a vaccine or something to fight it. However a slow return from the lock down will ease the pressure on the NHS and slowly get the economy back. I really cannot see any sort of normality for months to come at the least.

My guess would be around September we’ll start a phased opening, schools, public transport, shops, and later will be pubs restaurants and lastly mass gatherings. All looks very bleak.

I personally think that money will dictate when any restrictions are lifted, when the big wigs feel they’ve lost enough and start sweating they will act, Italy, Spain are starting now.

Spot on mate. I base my timings on little things I’ve seen on news channels.
A commentator when asked about schools opening he said probably after the summer holidays, September.
A scientist was asked about a vaccine and he said fingers crossed September. It seems to me that they’re pushing for September to be the starting point of phased re opening.

We were told that there wasn't enough sufficient evidence to suggest mass gatherings increased the spread of this virus, then a couple of days later we had bans on said gatherings, but particularly at sporting events, this was because all emergency services could have been needed etc. When constantly asked at the daily press conference, particularly the politician standing in for Boris doesn't give a concrete answer on anything to do with this virus, nothing changes much does it as re. politicians?! Even the scientists when queried will use words such as, could have, possibly etc, like if we hadn't taken theses drastic lockdown measures, the infection rate/death toll COULD be worse, but they don't have any hard evidence to back this up, and when the dust settles on all of this, when the country is still trying to recover possibly years after, they may just regret their draconian actions. Don't get me wrong, they were placed in a very difficult situation, but just a little food for thought, in the same time frame as Corona, worldwide deaths around 120,000 is it now? Well there has been over 400,000 deaths from tuberculosis, around 140,000 from Aids and around 150,000 from seasonal 'flu.......
