Very interesting report and goes to show what growing pressure can achieve, we need to keep the issue live though but there appears to be goodwill going forward. Cllr Box apologised for calling it Trinity Stadium, it is a "community stadium"

Love the way it portrays Box as the person who has pulled it all together and got it back on track. The guy is a hero.

You're either a highly optimistic person or rubbish at maths.

You kind of have to accept this kind of bullshiz when dealing with politicians; if they backtrack or roll over, there will always be a face-saving spin. So long as it moves things forward, who cares?

But make no mistake - this is a victory; the Daily Star and the Indie did us a huge favour, and the subsequent sound and fury on social media and locally, pushed Mr Box into a corner - hence this development, which is very significant.

When will there be more detail about what exactly is already included - and is that the figure before the proposed extension to Newcold?

We are 22.500 sq metres closer to the 60,000 trigger point than we were this morning. We have also had a public commitment to progress the matter. All in all a positive assurance particularly around the financial trigger and acknowledgment that it is a community stadium and facilities to the benefit of the people of Wakefield.

Attended the meeting today. I still don't think anything would have happened without the 2 newspaper articles and all the e-mails circulated. Thougbt Maureen Cummins spoke well and pointed out that she attended all Wakefield games home and away, unlike other people!

It would be a bonus if Clarks (or whatever they're called) moved in there in the near future and the extension counted towards the 60,000 target.

Just got back from the meeting and agree entirely. Without the nationals getting involved and the deluge of letters to councillors & MP's the subject of a community stadium for Wakefield would not have even been on the agenda. Chuckled to myself as he explained his dismay about the articles appearing just as he was at the end of months of meetings and negotiations to get this deal for the people of Wakefield...whatever Mr Box. However you want to save face is fine with me just as long as you are true to your televised words of today.

The pressure must stay on the council as while i know there are no elections this time around, if in twelve months time we are no further forward we should be holding the councils feet firmly to the fire.

This is very positive and a step forward but there is still a great deal of work for us to do.

We are awaiting the draft of the new multi-party agreement which will be run past our Lawyers which will be the start of the process.

As I say, a great deal of work ahead of us but for the first time in a long while we appear to be taking forward steps rather than going backwards.

I read it as 40k sqm for Newcold in total

You have just got to love politicians, the brass neck of Box in saying
