I'm not sure about this but are we getting the ground sale and the Superbowl mixed up. As far as I'm aware the only interest in the ground is from us as we are sitting tenants. The old Super Bowl on the other hand is fair game.

Think this needs some clarification.

I believe there are other interested parties but because of the ACV the ground can't be sold to them for six months, it can only go to the community group if the bank want an immediate sale. Nothing to stop them waiting until the grace period is over though if the other bids are significantly higher and we can't/won't match them.

I know but even after that we are sitting tenants with a recently negotiated long term lease as far as I'm aware - not sure who'd want that. Also there are a number of issues with BV that make it a poor and very expensive site to develop, certainly for housing or retail which is what you'd want to put there.

As I say as far as I'm aware it's the SuperBowl site that has the interest especially for the Mosque.

The buried radioactive waste, asbestos and hundreds of pig carcasses might put some of the other interested parties off a bit?

Not nit picking, but it's in League Weekly not League Express. Just to save folk looking in wrong paper.

The Mosque group want both from what i understand, for both the Mosque itself and an array of community facilities, one of which could well be a sports pitch. The lease is for four seasons after this one and is up for a yearly review at the end of every October. I suppose a new owner may want to go back to charging more to try and 'persuade' us to move elsewhere. The site has contamination issues but wouldn't be an issue to a buyer with deep pockets and when the plan is community use.

All that said i'd be surprised if the community trusts bid wasn't accepted as the bank gets its cash quicker that way. My main worry then is how much money would then be available from Yorkcourt for improvements or how long it would take to get hold of.

I'm sure I'll be lambasted for being "nasty" but come on surely you can see this is the least opportune moment for MC or TRB to tell us anything - I'm really not sure what you expect, a bids not even been accepted yet.

I suppose logically that we have waited before bidding on that site. My logic being that if we get the primary target (the ground) then it pretty much renders the Super Bowl site worthless (in relative terms) as there is little you can do with it by itself, it will remain pretty much what it is, a car park.

That's my hope anyway.

Great news in an already great week but I'll feel better when confirmed officially.
