| So here we go again, another new coach coming in on his white horse. I wonder what the actual plan was for beyond this season? MC said in the press conference that we need stability as far as the coach is concerned, yet would BS have stayed beyond this season anyway? Obviously we'll never know as he took his bat and ball home, personally i'm not sure he would have, so what then, promote Dickens who doesn't actually want the job, Gilmour? doubtful, so then BS goes home at the end of this season and another coach is brought in, so where's the stability and long term planning in that?! We all know we probably spend less on player recruitment etc than all the other clubs, without sounding horrible, we are basically a Championship club in almost every aspect trying to survive in SL which means one thing, a big struggle. No matter what people said, i'm sure in private we all knew it was gonna be very difficult this season, and unless the new coach can work some magic, the rest of the season will probably bear little fruit as re. results, but surely the next coach has to at least try and put something long lasting in place, and at least try and forge some bond and share a common goal with the chairman, some long term achievable, realistic target.....sounds easy written down doesn't it We can't go on like this, because our luck will run out eventually and we will be relegated.....

| Think anyone who has a modicum of intelligent will know that we had a chance to clear the decks after MPG but ended up resigning some of the players that were responsible for where we were.
Does that tell you that there weren't any players about, or that new players wouldn't sign because of BS?
I really thought that with all his experience in the game, BS could have pulled a couple of really good 'rabbits out of the hat' as signings.
The next coach has very little room for manoeuvre.

| We've always spent less on player recruitment than just about every other team but always managed to be competitive and made the top 6 on a couple of occasions. MC says we've just had our biggest player budget under him so I believe the plan was to progress slowly, try to improve on last year and see where we were at the end of the season. After Brian Smith's exit and Friday's debacle, doom and gloom seems to be setting in again. Vital now for everyone we get the right man in and pull together like the old days, no more excuses, we fight on together as one.

I agree with this. The more I hear is that it was Smiths decision to re sign a lot of the dead wood. Its a shame we need a real clear out. Its a real bad bunch we have.

| You need only to look at widnes to see what long term investment and gradual improvements can do.
FWIW I think widnes will fall away somewhat when injuries set in and the season drags on, not massively though.
With that in mind, I don't think John Kear is the right man for the job. No way. Glenn Morrison fits the bill IMO. He's doing with dewsbury in the championship exactly what Wakefield need to do in SL. Similar to powell, he brings the best out of players and gets them working hard as a unit.

| The way i see it is we NEED a coach who knows the Wakefield way, ie The passion us fans have and for the team to show more passion than what they show on the field,Who knows he'll have a limited budget to play with and give it to to players if there dont perform well no matter who their are,
JD
KEAR
MORRISON
Any one of these would do and perhaps a certain MR Cullen as well. Ideal partnership would be JD as coach JK as Director of Football in which would get the fans flooding back .

| As we don't have a CEO or director of rugby, I wonder who if anybody is advising MC on the crucial choice of our next coach. It was the timely comments from Neil Fox that led to the appointment of John Kear,so it could be a good idea to consult with some of our "old" players who can at least remember what it was like to be part of a winning team !

If i was guessing I'd go for Steve gill at Cas
btw for what it's worth it was Dave Oxley Kear's agent not Neil Fox what had a timely word with Steve Ferres after he finally took the hint from Jimmy Lowes that he wasn't interested.

| Well this time the club can select their coach based on what they expect and want. I hope they choose well because the way we are currently heading is not a good place.
