So the council have announced another £27m in cuts. But to the wakefield express article, can anybody explain what the following relates to:
"Despite the cuts, the council is proposing a £200m investment programme up until 2018/19.
The plans include:
• £15m in leisure facilities in the Five Towns and South East of the district"

Interesting, also strange that the £15M figure is almost exactly the same as the cost of building a stadium in the Five Towns development in Castleford.
Maybe I'm wrong but I smell another big rat!

Sorry but you're barking up the wrong tree there I'm afraid. No council money going into the project, all financed by Lateral and have retailers already confirmed (M&S, Primark and Next) plus rumours that Sainsburys are next.

You’re forgetting the life size twenty four carat solid gold statue of Mr Box positioned high above the main entrance to the new Cas ground, with his middle finger up, pointing towards Wakefield .

So Lateral pay £15M for a stadium while the WMDC (Box) siphons off £15M which pays for other parts of the development which would otherwise have been Laterals responsibility.
Same difference!

No you can't - you can expect them to go up; that's what the Tories have told LA's to do, to offset the massive reductions in their health and social care budgets.

| Every council in England are complaining about the reduction being placed on them but some of you believe Wakefield have bucked the trend and are in fact cash rich. I believe one D Cameron wrote to his council about the cuts which is strange considering he is responsible for them. This was backed up by his mother who signed a petition against the cuts.
Why should the council buy us the ground, we should be able to raise the funds necessary to secure both our future and have a source of income.
I ask the question what if we had left then I presume all restrictions are removed and BOI would have been able to sell the land for more and we would basically be nomads unless Newmarket is built.

Correct - I work with lots of them, and I can attest to the fact that many are, at present, technically bankrupt, so the type of cuts WMDC are talking about are happening everywhere.
Well done to anyone who voted Tory - this is what you voted for - 5 more years of ideological austerity.

No its not to pay for more Police it will in part put some money into policing but will not put anything near the budget cuts to the police from central govt in essence it will mean there will be slightly more police with the 2% levey but its not an increase it will still be less police officers in West Yorkshire.

The Coalition and latterly the Tories, have totally failed to deliver on all of their deficit reduction targets; they now use austerity as a cloak to make ideological attacks on public services and the working classes, just as they've always done.
As for UKIP - I fail to see what a bunch of one-issue crackpots and racists would bring to the table.

| Tbh all the parties are like my , have been for decades local and National. It was just that this time around the Tories for some was the best of a bad bunch.
Personally while ever Corbyn and McDonnell are the top boys in Labour you can count me out. The bloke's never got his head round the failure of his preferred policy mix in the 1970s, would be a disaster for the country if he ever got into power as well as a significant threat to investment and long-term business planning even in opposition.
Anyone who thinks nationalised industries, the government setting prices, triggering mass departures of businesses and the rich through punitive taxation and the familiar paraphernalia of a socialist command economy are "sensible" and are going to make anyone better-off, is crazy imo.
Anyway I personally hate talking politics at the best of time, even less on a Rugby forum.

| Looks like Jeremy Hunt has succeeded in alienating a large number of employees which could lead to mass departures not of business but trained Doctors. Why don't people realise how busy the Tories are because they never appear to have anyone available to put their case when asked. All that work put in by Osbourne to improve his appearance is going to waste because if anyone is needed to defend one of his policies he generously sends one of his juniors now Alexander is no longer available.
I note you quote nationalisation as a failure therefore can you tell us how many of the utilities are still in the hands of UK business.
