| OK,
New day after another dreadful weekend supporting the Trin.
Now I’ve calmed down a little I’d like to congratulate Mr Carter. Last night in that SKY interview I saw a man who genuinely cared. He looked a little bit shell shocked since I last saw him but their was no doubt his almost child like enthusiasm over the appointment of Brian Smith. I for one cannot begrudge him that. Ive been one of his critics but only because I feel he has allowed himself to be hoodwinked by second raters and never were’s and his understandable lack of RL knowledge. I’ve also criticised him for not listening to advice, now I only have this second hand but I can only assume on this occasion he listened to somebody - and if it was Webster then hats off to that man.
So then a lot depends on Brian Smith, his motives, his integrity and his drive. Both MC and ourselves deserve better and I hope we get it, especially MC who I feel probably deserves a break - it’s been a bad year for us and a terrible one for him.
You have a big job Brian. I wish you all the best but with the personal you have and the time remaining it’s a massive task. I fear there are elements within the club that need removing ASAP which will make it even harder as I don’t think it’s MC’s way (which shows a certain humanity).
As I say good luck!

| I applaud MC for this appointment. I too think the guy deserves a break and perhaps it's time for those on the field to get their act together, although I fear we are simply not good enough.
It's also time for those supporters who have stayed away to return and show some support for an owner, who genuinely does want to take this club forward.

| Great post! Just what I was thinking yesterday. I have been buzzing since the news broke, hats off to MC, it's about time this great club stopped being a laughing stock. I wanted to know all about Brian Smith's pedigree so was up until all hours this morning reading up on the guy, watching footage of his teams, and getting a general background into our new coach. It's gonna take a helluva lot to turn our bunch of losers into winners but if anyone can do it this guy can. I look forward to seeing him work his magic, work a miracle even, the target is survival, beyond that, who knows but I am looking forward to finding out.

I wish your club the very best of luck, It's overdue. Smith did a great job at Bradford, I hope he can repeat it for you.

Have to say that's true - we really have not had much luck for years now - in fact since 1968 to be honest.
However I think the death of Adam Watene, David Topliss, Leon Walker and Terry Newton plus two financial crisis over the last 7 years have been especially hard to endure. WTRLFC has not been a happy place in recent times even by our standards.

We also lost Don Fox, Ken Hurst and a Director (sorry his name eludes me) during the same period. Not to mention Steve Prescott who I know was only with us a short time but a former player and friend all the same.
Wakefield has certainly been through the ringer in recent times

I didn't include Sixties greats because in all fairness you'd expect to be losing a few of those sad though it is. However the others were well above what most clubs would expect. Thought Prescott was a credit to himself when at the club. His exploits fighting Cancer came as no surprise to be honest - forget about great player just a great man.

| Look on the bright side! (Bare with me..)
You will be presented with the chance to de-throne the so called unbeatable and increasingly big headed Leigh Centurions. I think Brian Smith will definitely rejuvenate what looks like an incredibly low looking team. You all know that of the players you still have that there are a good half dozen that when on top of their game will carry you home comfortably against any championship team. You have to forget the result a few weeks ago as that was part of the old regime. A big name like Brian Smith will bring confidence back to the team and you will see a vast improvement in application from your senior players.
Things can only get better and I'm sure they will.

| Thanks super cas, that is a good perspective. I think when our teams meet for the 3rd time this season it will be a good benchmark as to how far we've progressed under Smith.
Cheers mate.
