As I have repeated many times, I will not give timescales. I'm not sure of why this has been put out - I will ask - but as the meetings haven't even taken place yet, there is no way of knowing whether we will come to a satisfactory agreement and, if we are not happy with any deal offered, we will not sell the club and the supporters short. We have been in this a long time, and we are committed to the cause for as long as is takes to get the best deal we can out of all this!

Well at least somebody has put something positive out, for the hundreds or probably thousands of Wakefield Trinity fans who don't do forums and/or social media, it will be the first thing they've heard about the stadium projects for months/years.

It might just have a positive effect on people's view of the club and therefore could in a small way help season ticket and merchandising sales.

The last non-game related media statements that many will have seen will have been the negative stuff from last year regards player fire-sales, avoiding Administration and ground safety certificate problems etc. All those things had a huge detrimental effect on sales and attendances last year so maybe we can redress the balance a bit with positive news whilest being carefull to avoid the Richard Wright type of spin.

I really don't think that particular statement is going to make any positive difference whatsoever!

In fact it has already had a negative impact on one, now occasional, supporter. When pointed out to my old man his reply was 'I thought that was all agreed and sorted, typical Trinity, they'll never get a ground sorted'. Sometimes less is more and ignorance is bliss!

I do understand what you are saying, and it is for fear of disappointment that I try not to give dates and details that give hope to something that we just cannot promise. I am hopeful that something will come about as this year develops, but after all the effort the fans put into this, I will not see it sold short of every last penny we believe we can retrieve for this Club and this City.

I'm not commenting on your decision not to release information but rather the clubs lack of positive news stories in the press of which news about the stadium subject is just one. There was an avalanche of bad news about this time last year which decimated the support and all but destroyed what was left of the Wildcats good name. We've done great since then but very little good news has been reported any wider than this forum and the clubs website. As a result your average fan, non Internet savy fans and the public have no positive news to redress the damage done 12 months ago.

I'm glad that a positive story has made the press, I hope there's more! Negative news like last years stops you dead in your tracks. While turning that around takes a sustained Campeign of positive, true yet not over optimistic news stories in the wider press, then we might see a slow return of apathetic and disillusioned fans.

Agreed. Just when it seemed like we'd got everyone to stop posting questions and answers guff, along come the Wakey Express to upset the applecart.

my mum who lives in stanley and some friends who are wakefield fans have asked the same question about the ground, my answer is generally "somebody cocked up with planning and i doubt we will ever see a ground there!" half of that is my personal opinion but the news about anything isn't exactly deafening !

Did Sir Rodney actually say (not direct quote)that after the meeting at end of January he hoped that we would be able to move forward with the plans?
If not the Express must be making it up.
If he did say it he sounds more optimistic than some.
Who are we supposed to believe?

Both - we're all part of the same process. We may hope for something early, but history and experience tell me it will take a little longer.

What should be taken as a positive is that we are still in the fight and still talking - that in itself is more than some expected!

Lack of communication in any form is a de-motivator so I agree with The Avenger in that anything is better than nothing even if it's just to say work is continuing even if no progress is being made.

So have you been fully motivated since the pre Super League Pugneys proposal or even more recent the Queens Drive one?
I've just slowly glazed over and I doubt I'll live to see any major change. Constantly raking up the same old jam tomorrow has now lost it's appeal.

I'm afraid thats my take on it also. I would love to feel positive and think that the soundbites in the press have any real substance behind them but sadly all i get is the feeling of yeah mate we've heard it all before. I'm a member of the i'll believe it when i'm stood in it brigade, i just hope that it does happen sooner rather than later.

I mentioned the demotivation as I believe communication in any form is better than none so an opinion can be based on information rather than conjecture.
