| I agree he's not developed into either a Super League standard scrum half or hooker. Hope he goes elsewhere and proves me wrong.

| I think that unfortunately he is one of those players who just isn't quite good enough for Super League. I think he would be a decent siging for any championship team.

| Think he can leave with his head held high.
Stood by the club in their hour of need and ended up getting a bit of a raw deal for his loyalty.

| If true, good luck Mattie!
As said above, he's shown great loyalty over the last few years and possibly hasn't had the game time he required to develop his skills.
A very capable player who still has improvement in him and ought to look at the route to Super League that Danny Brough, Kyle Wood and even Liam Finn have taken.

| In 2011 he came into the side as a kid and looked very promising. He had some very good games and walked away with the young player of the year award. If in the following couple of seasons he had been given a decent number of games i think he would have developed into a good number 9 for us. But sadly he never got the opportunities afforded to others and the lack of game time and being shunted out on loan and dual reg here there and everywhere hasn't helped him one bit. Its best for his career that he settles somewhere and plays week in week out. He has the talent and age on his side that he might well get another crack at the big time on the future. I wish him well.

That’s my take on it, he had the potential but it’s been wasted with a lack of game time for the last three years. I am amazed there are people saying he doesn’t have what it takes when he’s had such limited, sporadic opportunities in the first team, but every time he has played he’s more then held his own. Sad to see another club trained player ready for the first team leave, but it seems the nature of this club to overlook them in favour of fringe players from the outside.

| Oh come off it he's had 30 games, how many do you need!
He's never been awful but he's never been a stand out either and the harsh reality of SL (and rightly so) is if you haven't done it by 30 games you probably never will or at least not at the club you're at.
I realise some other players get away with it but that still doesn't make Wildie any more deserving.
As for sticking by the club what utter guff, truth is he had nowhere else to go if he had he would of - there isn't that kind of loyalty in RL and there never was IMHO.
Maybe a change of team might kick start him - I wouldn't write him off as a player but as a Trinity player - that ship has sailed.
Sorry guys but other young players deserve their 30 games now.

| I along with a number of others ( North standers sponsored him) always rated Mattie now he’s going I am not sure how many of our own produced are let , I thought there had to be a minimum of seven. If the rumours are true and we have been out bid by £3000 for Walshaw (Mariano syndrome) that only leaves Crowther , Jowitt , Johnstone, Anakin & Trout

But that was the point i was making, of those 30 games nearly 20 of them were in that first season when it was pretty much unanimous that he looked impressive. Since then its been a case of occasionally in for a game then not seen for a couple of months and thats why his progress stalled imho. For me he should have got the chance under Agar to have a run at it but for whatever reason it never happen and you are right in that it is now time for him to move on.
The club trained question is a pertinent one though, are we going to have to put a couple of lads in the squad who are not quite ready yet to make up the numbers? Is there anybody else not yet mentioned coming through who could step up?

As it stands he's out of contract at the end of the season.

| Homegrown players from the top sides in Super League either perform more or less straight away, when given the chance, or show visible signs that they are going to make it. Wildie has been hanging around the 1st team fringes for ages now; and, for me, has had plenty chance to show that he can cut it. Sadly I really don't think he has much future in SL, he'd be better off dropping into the championship where he could be useful player.
