What was the single goal of this year?

I keep reading all the negativity about style of play desire etc.

Going back to preseason posts on here there was in general 1 single objective.

There was 2 for me....

1. Balance the books.

2. Stay up.

And as far as the no 1goes you have been the best

It's a fair point, but you are forgetting the main point: it's the entertainment industry.

So stay up and stay solvent are the main goals. Entirely understandable, but from a fans point of view, you'd be entitled to say "bought the gold membership, see you in September".

Most fans, as far as I can tell, just want to see their team compete. I can take a loss. I can't take a lack of effort on the way. There are two types of good coaches: those who get a lot out of average players, and those who get a lot out of great players. The two are not usually interchangeable. I get the impression that Agar might be the latter. We need the former. Too early to tell if Webster is the former.

If you want people to turn up every week with their hard-earned twenty quid in their hands, you can't rely on "well, twelfth and solvency is fine". It is in the long-term, but is hardly a reason to give up an afternoon. Knowing your side will bust a gut is.

Exactly this, but it is a point that seems lost on some.

We have done neither yet.
The last ten days has seen us move closer but still we have a long way to go.
Richard Agar staying on any longer could have stopped us from achieving both.
The bulls staying up could have stopped us from achieving both.
Losing on Friday night could have stopped us from achieving both.
As it is everything went our way on all three and could see us achieve both.
Tim Smith coming back is another huge plus.
As a point of interest DC how close are we to 1. And has a degree of overspending had to be signed off in order to achieve 2. due to lower income (?) and a precarious league position.

I said those were my aims for this season. From the brink of administration. I couldn't have cared less this season if there was no entertainment as long as those 2 objectives were achieved. I thought I had that backing at the time. Obviously I was wrong. And it's been proved in the crowd figures. With hindsight would I have done things differently last august. Quite simply yes.

Staying solvent and staying up will entertain me this season.

Although nervous about the answer, what would you have done differently ?

I don't think the problem has been because lack of talent within the squad its the way the address them selves,
I personally haven't seen the grit and determination across the whole squad as yet, just heads down when things don't go there way,
just look at the two results this weekend cas and saints, had that been us the forum would of been on melt down but hang on 2 points on a dire game that could of of gone either way on the toss of a coin,
I'm mighty relieved that we have edged away a bit further but does them game results show that there seems to be a trend forming that once they get so far in front they just stop playing, this is where we have to see a change with a never say die a attitude, you pay their wages they should respond.

I'm pleased to hear that the clubs books are beginning to be more stable and its looking for the future as long as we stay in super league, trying to predict what the fans intention are as far as supporting the club is getting more difficult as the season goes on, from being close to admin to a top 8 side and then relegation fodder its no wonder you get the odd preacher shouting woe is me and others listening on, now's the time to stop feeling sorry for selves just knuckle down again.

1, stop up this season
2. keep chipping away at the debt

just add who's paying your wagers the that list and you might get want we all want

Are you saying in hindsight you wish you hadn't got involved at all?

If you are I can fully understand why but it's very worrying that you feel that way, surely the worst is over.
Without counting our chickens we look relatively safe from the drop and the team are likely to improve over the latter half of the season which should see some fans returning and match day revenue increase.

Both you and Chris have done a magnificent job in rescuing this club from almost certain extinction, don't let the relatively small percentage of ungrateful fools who are ignorant of the facts and realities of our predicament make you feel that you're both unappreciated by the more balanced supporters of our club.

I think that all of the clubs supporters are extremely grateful that you did, even with all of the negative comments that fill the forum and social media.
At the time of the meeting towards the end of last season, everyone was happy that there was still going to be a club to support and come the end of the season, anyone with a realistic view of where we were will be very, very happy if we achieve SL survival !

Just walk away! There's loads of mystery backers ready to plough millions into Trinity..........

Well as an outsider who reads your forum I keep seeing posters on here just saying they want the people in charge to be honest with them,I don't think you can have any comebacks from that statment, seems pretty honest and straight to the point for me.
