| Did anyone else notice Sykes bollocking Mathers for knocking a very catchable ball dead with just a couple of minutes remaining. He said something like WTF we need the ball and Mathers just gestured to him to calm down.
I thought myself that he should have caught it and returned it as the clock was ticking and we were hunting a score that would win us the game.

| What I just posted on the other thread, Mathers played well yes but if he picked up and returned the ball we may have won the game. Sykes was going ballistic with him. I heard someone say he was sprinting and accidentally knocked it but I don't think that was the case.

| He attempted to pick it up but it didnt bounce up for him. Think if he had waited for another bounce he would have ended up trapped in goal anyway.

The ball actually sat up perfectly for him to catch it, he was a good 3 or 4 metres inside the field of play and could have easily made it tobthe 10 metre line or further

Yes I'm for real!
It seemed to betray some frustration between the two and NO! I'm not just trying to stir up trouble where none exists.
If you don't think so that's fine but I disagree

I saw it as a raised hands apology. He was caught in two minds, and made the wrong decision in the heat of the moment, and knew it straight away. He raised his hands a couple of times in apology as they were lining up.

He did try to get hands to it but he couldn't so he booted it dead, split second decision fom him with Salford players thundering up behind him.
He did the right thing at the right time.

Split second choice with players around him and he went for the safe option, maybe Sykes should have had a go at players bombing several chances at the other end of the field.

I dint agree, i, like Sykes, thought he had time and room to catch the ball and stay in the field of play, but it's the kind of thing that happens in a game and it didn't lose us the game, just maybe made it harder to win.
Sykes reaction showed that he was competitive for the win - no issue with that.
Mathers signalled an apology - no issue with that.
No problem man!

| Like Al says - spur of the moment decision; probably the wrong one, but that's what happens in a game.
Sykes had a bit of a blow-up - fair do's; must be frustrating when you've got your opponents on the ropes and you just need the ball in your hands.
