| See the mole on twitter is making noises about Poore returning to the NrL. He is usually not far wrong?

| I remember SKY reporting that he would not leave us, if he does go then I hope we get a decent amount as we will have no senior prop forward.

| The mole is usually pretty good with his info so it wouldn't surprise me one bit if true. I imagine he is one of our higher earning players and one we need off the books to free up some of our set cap space but it still would be blow to lose him.

| If he has an offer to go back hen I wouldn't be surprised if he took it.
He will be one of if not our highest earners as well so we could get 2 good players in for his wage so it might make sense all round if we can get a decent fee.
That said I wouldn't want to see him leave.

| If he stays in Aus the only benefit we would get is a reduction in the wages bill, we’ve no chance of getting a fee for him so it won’t alleviate the present predicament - well slightly.

Rumour has it that he's on a large wedge and the reason he said he'll come back is no one else would be daft enough to pay him that much.
Its a very strong rumour mind.

Rumour has it that he would have been on a much more reasonably sized wedge, but for the intervention of our dearly departed CEO.

| I heard a rumour that he was quite poorely paid. I have no idea of course, just made it up, but I doubt any of the rumours any of you are quoting are anymore based on fact. To some it is just another chance to slate the previous chairman.
What if he decides to call in his loans which he could do we would then probably need to sell 10,000 season tickets.
I would suggest we let it go because there is nothing we can do about the past. I remember the Pearman era now that did leave us in a mess.

No ones mentioned the previous chairman so don't get so defensive.
Yes the Pearman era did leave us in a mess, this mess we are in now is just a tiny cash flow blip
Anyway back to Poore, would be a big loss on the field but if he goes maybe we could replace him for half the money, or if you like two players for the same money, either way he gets paid too much thanks to the previous regime

| After selling 6 season tickets in a week, what can we do.
I like Poore as a player but the reality is that we're skint.

| Quote ="TRB"I really like Poore - I think he's a good player and a good man - but he is expensive, as you would expect of someone who has played SoO.'"
Get shut for me, even if we don't get a fee for him - the wages could surely used more sensibly.
I think that other than a couple of brief glimpses we have seen nothing to suggest he is anywhere near (or ever has been) SoO quality. He started off fairly brightly and then was little more than a glorified plodder for the mid part of the season before picking up slightly towards the end, and this is before mentioning his slow PTB and awful disciplinary record. It's hard to believe we are getting value for money from him, and we should have a right to expect more from what should be a marquee signing.
Been given an easy ride by the majority of fans due to his debut punch on Bailey and his shot on Liam Farrell. I wonder how many mediocre performances he would have to put in before he came under the microscope.

I don't really like terms like this or "get rid of xxxx" when you are talking about a guy's livelihood, which in fairness is probably underpaid as it is. Makes me feel uncomfortable and its not as easy as people state just to terminate someone's employment like that.
I think what you meant to say is that if we received an offer for him we should consider it.

| I liked him personally, and think he would be even better in his 2nd season. For me would definitely be missed, especially if we have to fill the team with young lads which is looking more and more likely.

| Give the bloke a chance it was his first season. It's not easy uprooting and moving to the other side of the world to a different climate and culture along with a young family. I have some idea as my eldest daughter made the reverse journey to Australia at the beginning of the year and is gradually getting used to it, but it takes time.
When Pat Richards first went to Wigan there were many pie eaters not overly impressed with him in his first season, but since then he's been fantastic for them.
As for the money, Justin took what was offered. Whether, in our opinions it was too much is irrelevant. That's what was offered.
No surer way to unsettle a player than for the supporters to start saying they want shut.

| For me you've got to look at value to the team.
He may be paid more but getting two guys half as good really won't help us.
We need some people who can actually play.
Keeping him will help the younger guys in other positions perform to their best.
I'd rather keep him and have a slightly smaller squad (within reason)

Point taken, but to be fair it's a post on a thread about the likelyhood of Poore going - if we are able to offload him in any way shape of form I am of the opinion that the loss on the field will be less than the gain on the balance sheet even if no fee was received for him.

| Can't agree he would be no loss on the field, the guy is a good quality, experienced, prop forward who was second only to Amor in terms of performance this year in that department, and is likely to be replaced by a much inferior player. He is also part of the teams leadership group and a popular guy to have around the team. But the saving made on his wage and even a nominal transfer fee are needed so letting him leave is a neccessay evil.

| I don't know what his salary is and quite frankly I don't think we should know. His value to the team is what needs to be considered.
We are more than likely going to run with a drastically reduced squad next year and bearing in mind we have already lost Amor and Wilkes as well as Mariano who had some size and could cover prop if necessary. Nobody we bring in is going to have the same quality as those 3 and we will not compete at all if we can't lay some kind of platform for the backs.
To me, that means losing Poore would be a bridge too far. I'm fully aware that we have to "cut our cloth" but replacing him with 2 "average" props for the same money is false economy.

very quick to jump in to defend the old chairman yet so quick to criticise the new one - thats a little strange isn't it baring in mind the latter is sorting out the formers mess and the former wasn't even mentioned in the previous posts???????
For what its worth despite how Andrew Glovers spell in charge ended we have many many reasons to be thankful to him and had it not been for some very strange RFL u-turning , inocuous spending policies and lack of overall control he could/would still be in charge.
We should never forget that, but nor should we try to white wash history - but we are where we are for those reasons and i for one am a little dissapointed in both him, JE and the RFL.
If you are antagonised because of the level of criticism that is coming the way of AG then you shouldn't be, i think most decent fans will acknowledge his positive effect on the club in his time (and to a degree perhaps have some sympathy for him) but as i say we are where we are.

Whilst i'm inclined to agree with you the problem is its becoming glaringly obvious that the season ticket sales are not going to allow an increase in our set salary cap spend. Even an unlikely doubling in sales only pays for what we already have, and that is 15/16 players. We can't play with that amount! So the only way to do it is lose some of the higher earners and get two for the price of one to end up with a squad of near a couple of dozen.
Now nobody is going to want buy Mellars or Fox and they aren't going to just walk away from a highly paid years salary. So we are going to have to release/sell the guys who are highly paid and there is interest in and Poore comes into that category. It will cost us in quality but without an unlikely influx of external cash from somewhere what other choice do we have? We have to be able to raise a team somehow, even though that team will probably not really superleague standard. A long hard season awaits.

Completely agree.
The saying that we will get the side we deserve (or something ike that) is ringing depressingly true.
