For a side in their first professional season I thought they performed extremely well. Fitness told in the end as it should have done but a thoroughly deserved ovation from the majority of the crowd at the final whistle.

They had a real good dig and should be proud of themselves. Think the scoreline flattered us to be honest, it was purely fitnes that blew it out towards the end.

Yep have to agree....they gave it their best shot, and had it not been for the blowout in the final 15 minutes, we would have been severely humbled.
Glad to see they got a standing ovation at the end as it was thoroughly deserved.

I agree, in one spell they kept us out for four close sets on their line and stopped our forwards far easier than I expected. I also thought they looked fitter than I thought they would and managed some great offloads and kicks in play.

I honestly think the score flattered us, we looked lost on many last tackles and scored quite a few tries from scrappy wrestling over the line rather than creative flair. Wood and Wildie did little and far too many silly handling errors occurred. I don't think many of the non-regulars did anything to push for a regular place or even a contract in a game in which they should have been trying to prove themselves. Our forwards ran it in hard and I thought Lee Smith looked by far the best player on the pitch.

I actually felt more positive after losing to Warrington than I do today after seeing us score 11 tries!

Yes well played the Stags, they gave a good account of themselves. Also well played to Wakey for been professional enough to carry on scoring to the end & not easing up when the opposition started to tire.

Got a lot of respect from me also. They also played a clean game which sometimes dos'nt happen in games like this.

They have now become a team I shall follow with interest it would be great to see them get into the championship.

I really don't get that. Good as Hemel played they were not playing anything close to a full Trinity team so a bit of respect to our lads. Full time or not 11 tries takes some scoring from a formation that has never played together before against a well drilled if part time outfit.

Smith, Mathers, Fox, Cockayne, Collis, Kirmond, Ali, Anakin, Aiton, Washbrook, Sykes all out. The only absolute regulars were the four props and Smith. It wasn't just fitness that won the day it was also a lack of cohesion to start with allowed Hemel a more level playing field.

Just my opinion but it was a good performance from both teams IMHO.

Even though a lot of the younger players were brought in I expected more from them. For the majority of the game they just looked to match the opposition. I'd have expected players already at a better than third division standard as our back ups.

I do get your point but it rarely works out like that. We were bigger, stronger, fitter and had way more skill. However they were a team and had cohesion where as we didn't and that levelled the field in a way. Any coach will tell you team cohesion is the number one match winner. Yet 11 tries to one shows a massive superiority whichever way you look at at. I think it's the fact that we struggled to find a pattern of play for the first 60 mins that made us look clumsy at times.

11 tries in 80 mins means we scored a try on average once ever 7 mins, if you say a set of six takes around 2 mins then that equates to us scoring every other set, can’t see how we could have scored many more IMO and the well drilled hemal defence would probably have had a similar effect on most other SL teams.
Was worth the entrance fee and I enjoyed being stood back in my spot on the western terrace without being harassed by the stewards on what was a very pleasant evening weather wise as well
