| Here we go again!
Sandal Spartans have morphed into Spartans RLFC and moved to Ossett for the 2013 season; we're playing out of Ossett Trinity on Church St and looking forward to being the only jr rugby club in the Ossett/Horbury area.
We play Orrel St James in Rnd 2 of the BARLA National Cup on Sunday - looks like a tough ask after a long off-season - they're a tidy side.

Something like 2/3s of our squad hail from the Ossett/Horbury area and it's as much of a muchness for the rest.
We also have a very strong relationship with Ossett Academy with whom we have an official Schools Club link.
All in all it makes a lot of sense

| Looking forward to our little trip to Hull Wyke, The sun best be booked Hutchie.
Hoping to hit the ground running as most of our players are still involved in the Schools comp after a pretty decent result in Halifax winning 48-18 in terrible conditions.
We now have a home tie against the mainly West Hull filled Sirius High at home

| Ossett Academy yr 9's beat Sirius Acedemy in Hull today, 30-24; the Ossett team contains 7 or 8 Spartans players and they are our club-link school, so we like to keep an eye.

| Hard to say only going on what i was told by the St Wilfs players, about 4 played for Trinity against Cas Academy including the standoff, I believe the prop and some more play at Ryburn but exact numbers I don't know.
The St Wilfs players felt if they had 10 more mins then the game was there to be won ??

Be interested to see Crig v those big lads at Milford. Id guess Warriors asked to stay in 2 and know Milford asked to also be put in 2 so guess they've been moved up to 1 to plug that gap.

| Hi Seth,
Think most will struggle against their big guys, played them on Saturday and they we're a hand full again.
Glad they have been moved up though. Can honestly say there are no gimmes in that group at all.

| I don't think crigg will have a problem playing any team regardless of size and would probably welcome it, unlike some teams that seem to be a little aprehensive at playing against bigger players

Hi Richard, yeah I spoke to Alan, I was going to come and watch but we were training. Certainly looks like a very tough competition, some big strong athletes in that Milford side so they've come from nowhere.

Id not suggest they wouldn't welcome it at all, be good competition. Pretty understandable small sides would be apprehensive playing teams with 6footers playing for them, easy to say when your competing like with like.

Did Milford recruit these big ones late last season?
I only ask as my lads team(Greetland) played them early last season and i can only recall there being one big lad that stood out.
TBH i cant see past Crigg winning Div 1,although i think Div 2 could be wide open.

I also agree that Crigg wouldn't have a problem playing any team - as most wouldn't??????

We played them in a friendly about 8 months ago and won by 28 with (as you say) their 13 standing out, we then invited them to our gala in November and they had 3-4 more big althletic lads who as I understand moved from the year above to join their own age group.

I've not "suggested" anything, merely pointed out that IMO crigg would relish the challenge of any team and that some teams seem a little apprehensive at playing the bigger and stronger teams/players, I think maybe a couple of people on here are reading more in to my post than is actually there

| Spartans U14's are confirmed as playing in Div 2 for the 2013 season; we were initially put in Div 1, but that was dealt with on appeal.
Flattering to be considered to be in the top 8 teams in Yorkshire but at this stage in our development, totally the wrong place for us to be; just need some fixtures now!
