Just seen on Twitter that Northampton Rebels have withdrawn from entering Championship One next season. Shame that.

Completely agree, just a shame that they weren't able to make the step up.

IMO I don't think University of Gloucester should be going up either just based on the fact that playing staff are likely to want to take better paid jobs in the city. We have Nico Flanaghan in our reserves with the same conundrum and I don't think he'll pursue pro rugby.

The issue with the rebels is that an "executive" @ the football club saw it as a cash cow for the off season so the ground could be used throughout the summer. They recently invited the local community club to play a game only for it to return to their usual ground because there were no post to put up!!

Never was a goer because of the investment needed to launch the club, which the football club owners don't have to invest and run the football club.
