What a stuck up dog! I went to school with her & from the first sentence she is still the personification of the phrase "season change but people don't".

It infuriates me how some people can live in a big city, like Leeds, for a couple of years only to become self aggrandized neo-yuppies.

Their lack of civic pride & quickness to rubbish the city they grew up in is appalling.

Never seen a Guardian blog with as many replies from the person who wrote the article, and as many pathetic attempts to justify herself. She'll grow up, one day.

In a time of mass obesity, a festival to try and get folk to like and eat vegetables such as rhubarb is just what is needed. No one is forcing (excuse the pun) journalists with chips on their shoulders to go.

As a side line, those selling at the stalls are likely to be small businesses who are just the type that need help and assistance like this rather than the big supermarkets.

yeah me too, love Rhubarb, you ought to get the walks in Rhubarb triangle book and check out the Rhubarb cheesecake recipe , made it a couple times and its to die for. Just been looking at all the events for the festival and my mouth watering, maybe Wakey T have missed a trick by not having an element of the event there today, especially the Rhibarb Beer

Typical nasty, mean-spirited guff from an Uncle Tom Guardianista trying to ingratiate herself with her new posh friends.

As someone else has mentioned, at a time when small businesses are being asked to take up the slack in economic terms, a festival like this provides an opportunity for local businesses to showcase what they do in a positive way and potentially, grow their business; it's irresponsible for a journalist to denigrate that by sitting at her laptop and pounding out a load of innacurate, supercilious bile and it's even more irresponsible for the paper to publish it.

I'd encourage everyone to contact the Guardian and express their views - I will be.
