It might it might not, but if you've sold enough key fobs you won't have to worry either way, which is what I said.

Do you believe it won't or has very little chance of going to a PI because quite a lot of people think it has a good chance of being called in.

12 months ago I would say that it would almost certainly go to PI on the strength of opposition based on the detrimental affect on a town centre and its businesses.

However, right now I think the same change in Govt. attitude re energising the economy and getting building works up, may just see it slip by. That will be a very close call though and is why Opus are also looking at other, less central sites in the Cas area.

This same sea change of Govt priority will also see NM through with little fuss - I hope.

Cas is already a Pound shop paradise and is verging on a ghost town.

A big supermarket build may kill it off.

Then of course there are the traffic issues.

No dont panic Snowie, but the fear is that it would just about everything else off, leaving just pound shops, gambling arcades and bookies.

There's also objections from ASDA and after having been begged for years to move into Cas you can expect Morrisons to lodge one too.

There's also the fact that Cas pulled every favour they could and badgered the WMDC to rezone, against the existing plan, parts of Wheldon Rd for housing so they could sell to Ben Bailey homes. No sooner had WMDC bent over backwards to change the classification in the new LDF, RW and cronies do an immediate U-turn and ask for it to be rezoned again for commercial.

As dBoy said the Gov't shift in policy might be Castlefords best chance of avoiding a PI, good luck to em.

Whilst i'll give you there probably will be a supermarket built in cas, lets just say Opus are keeping there options open as to where the supermarket could be built. That 22,000 petition says that a lot of people support a new supermarket. The Wheldon Road bit is immaterial in the scheme of things. Out of interest, have Tesco signed that heads of terms agreement yet?
