| these last two seasons he has done a very poor job with you but to be fair you havent had the players to coach well.
Regardless of what coach you get they will never be able to get Wakefield up for a Cas match like he does. He understands the importance of bragging rights and local derbys, even Matterson doesnt get it.
You will get a better coach overall but not for derbys

Being up for 24 games a year rather than 3? I can live with that.

He can only do his best with what players he has so I think you are a bit harsh saying he's done a very poor job.

| Saw his reaction after one of our tries last night, made me smile. He looked sick as a dog when we lost like.

Because, if you hadn't noticed there seems to be a belief amongst our poor relations from over the common that they are, all of a sudden, competing for honours and a coach like Kear is way beneath them. What they fail to realise is they have most probably had their 15 mins of fame and a day out in the play offs much like Crusaders last year, us the year before and Salford a couple of years before that - only to have a rude awakening when they bump back to the real world the year after.
I reckon plenty down't lane are going to have trouble accepting that they have most likely ridden the crest of the wave this year, taking advantage of playing some teams at the right time, in the right conditions massively over achieving for a long period of the season and generally speaking ridden their luck to the play offs and their season will basically grind to a halt the same way everybody else's other than Wire, Wigan and probably Saints.
Pattern repeats itself many times over, most years you get a bolter who over achieve and then reality bites leaving bottom 3rd of the table finishes much harder to stomach because in the words of James "now its come back round again, its worse than it was before. If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor."

A perfect summary of the Cas myth - very well said.

They would have been nothing on Saturday if someone had nailed Chase everytime he got the ball, he was allowed to run across the line unchallenged that was the really poor area to our game on Saturday IMHO

| When Chase doesn't get his visa renewed next year Cas will be bottom three material. They are the definition of a one man team.

I disagree. The best way to defend Chase, is to let him run along his own line of players and mark the dummy runners.
Its when you step forward and miss him that you're in trouble.
The cant score running sideways

Without a doubt they are a team that have over performed this season. Most of this was down to a big run against out of from teams in the first half of the season. Not that that is there fault, of course you take advantage of circumstances that fall in front of you. Despite all there moaning about injuries, have they actually been that bad? Not if you ask me, they lost a few average players to injury and was replaced by other average players. They fail to see the good fortune that they have had in Rangi Chase near injury free season, been a one man team that has to be considered good fortune. But typical of over performing teams they soon got found out when the business end of the season arrived. I don’t think any Cas fans can complain with a 9th place finish that would be a proper reflections of the teams overhaul performances and abilities.

| I thought we played ok but in the last 5 minutes we went back to the Kear mode of play and I knew it was a matter of time before Cas capitalised. Kear's negative game plan only really suits Rinaldi who made big yards scooting aided by his low centre of gravity.

He should have been taken out of the game the proper way "A couple of hard legal tackles" and that would have been him sorted, but for some reason we just watched him and gave him far too much time. We still should have won too.

I think it speaks of his quality that some teams don't do that to him - he represents sufficient threat that they become like rabbits in the headlights, afraid to shoot out of the line to take him out and continually backing off for fear that they'll get skinned.
Cas will be lost without him, like we were without Broughy.

But surely you could say that Huddersfield have become a one man team with the likes of Danny Brough. Since he got injured Hudds have been poor. They are supposed to be top four material and they are losing games such as Salford and Wakefield that they should be nailing even if people like Brough aren't playing

I would say we have been pretty consistent in where we are in the league in recent years 7th, 9th and likely to get 8th this year, so i'm not sure where this idea we are having one wonder season has come from, we are steadily building up our team and our league position. As for our run early in the season when we were missing only 2 or 3 players at a time we won 7 out of 8 when we had 7 or 8 players out at a time (including most of our front rowers) we lost more than we won, for obvious reasons. We have had injuries in double figures for a number of games this year, which would devastate any team (especially losing 4 front rowers). I dont expect us to be in the top 4 or anything next season but in or around the playoffs again. You say we were lucky to be playing certain team at certain times but you could equally say the teams that have got wins against us have been lucky playing when we have so many injuries, swings and roundabouts.
