| Everybody's got us going down, the guy on radio Leeds tonight from 40-20 magazine has us tipped along with Kear to go to cas, and I've just walked in the house and put sky sports news on and they've baggsied us for going down too.
It's the worst kept RFL secret since the shock of widnes coming up!!!
And that was the worse kept secret since crusaders coming into SL......
The continued certainty regarding classified RFL announcements leads everybody to the same conclusion I'm afraid, and that is us down!!!

| It's not a bad article but falls into the same trap as every other article written about us and the subject of franchising.
Much is made of the two big negatives in our application, Stadia and Administration, but no mention of the many huge positives.
Youth development,
Community,
Commercial,
Marketing,
Attendances being up 16%,
Young British players dominating the 1st team,
Newfound financial stability.
The full story regarding Newmarket and the positivity surrounding the PI decision never gets told either. On the subject of stadia Andy Wilson fails to mention Oakwell, which would see Trinity playing from one of the top 6 stadiums in SL. That would only leave the administration as a blight on our application and as previously mentioned that is history as we now have new ownership.

You are right clan there is much to be admired in you franchise application, however you have to remember that most of it was underpinned by poor finances, Your club went bust achieving many of these things! And the only reason you are turning a porfit at the min is due to your poor first team and the fact that you have so many youngsters in there (low wages)! who knows it may turn out to be a good business model and a trick missed by the RFL.
As for Oakwell it could have spelt the end of a Wakefield club with Newmarket in the balance, granted Newmarket gets passed no worries, but should newmarket not get passed then The wakefield club would have been sold down the river for a few years in Super league!
The fact is your club were finding it difficult to pay the bills whilst in there own ground in there own city, so logic would dictate that moving into someone elses ground incuring the costs that go with that would have been a difficult business plan to sell!

Steady on old chap, I was talking in a historical sense with regards the Oakwell decision. Newmarket was/is uncertain and there for going to Oakwell would have been a massive risk to Rugby in Wakfield, and not worth a couple of years in super league!
As for the beer its on Ice

Bloody hell I didn't expect a reasonable reply either... all though you let a bit of bitterness out there... just a little with that beer comment!
As for Newmarket, well uncertain is looking a little strong but you are right, there are no guarantees but with no statutory objections left (well, there is just Leeds CC left and they don't formally count as being a statutory objector and they are possibly going to drop part of their objection) then it just gets more likley by the day!
Anyway, had a look at the plans for PO Road and was very impressed. Got to say, of all the three clubs in Met District it looks the most likley to be built first!

Don't get carried away with the idea of sustainable business plans and book balancing within SL clubs.
While I won't stand up and defend the old owners I can tell you that their business plan was closer to being balanced than just about every other club in the SL. Income was outbalanced by expenditure to the tune of about £200k per season which is almost exemplary when compared to the negative balance sheets of other clubs. Only philanthropy and sugar daddy donations make those clubs sustainable yet many of those associated with clubs like that feel justified in villyfying Wakefield.
Wakefield are now profitable and while I agree that the salary reduction has helped there's also increased revenue streams right across the board. Those revenue streams are fuelled in no small part by a 16% increase in attendances which is pretty amazing when you consider the gloomy climate and dark clouds that have hung over Belle Vue since November last year.
