| 1) We need 5000 members to tick a box on the franchise application - we currently have just over 3000. To try and get that number up we have launched Club 1873 - a lottery type scheme that costs £2 a week, with weekly £500 prize and 2 mega draws per year for £5000
2) We are redeveloping Belle Vue until Newmarket is ready - roof over North terrace (the one opposite the Hospitality Boxes), roof over part of Western terrace (side opposite the main stand), new bar and new refreshments facilities.

| As fordy says!!
The membership is needed as a requirement of being in SL, i gather around a 1000 have already joined the membership (which i think is a good idea incidently, and where my £5 a week lottery money will now go) so we need about the same again.
As JE said "without it we aren't in S"L, so come on, what's £2 a week for the club you love.
The ground development(funded largely by AG) has been submitted to the RFL, because we are a new company we are allowed to keep adding to our franchise bid, and this is an addition and one that i think is a common sense approach at ticking a box.
The SL requirement is 12000 covered supporters, well i can think of several grounds that are partially exposed, so we are on parity with them, and hugely improved.
I think everything that is being done, is to make the RFLs job impossible to kick us out justifiable, and i think from what i have seen so far we are heading in the right direction.
I would also hope that the RFL realise what efforts are now being made by the club, and in such a short period of time, and that we are worthy of beo=ing a SL club, which i am certain was not the case under the old regime.
I think/hope there is still a lot going on behind the scenes that is still to make the club a dominant force, and while i am a little dissapointed that we still have unanswered questions, i like that they are not promising us the earth like in the past.
I 100% believe that everything that they have said, either has or will be delivered (cosmetic my ar$e!!!!)
All the speakers were passionate, especially AG, JE and JK, the players and staff mingled with the supporters, a great idea having a player sat at each table!
As supporters we have to understand our place, and that we have a responsibility to support (££) our club, if we want it to be the best, it is not just down to a benefactors money.
Finally i just want to add, it was fantastic to see so many fans there, an absolute shot in the arm for everyone connected to the club, im sure a huge boost to the team, coaching staff and management, and it proved 100% to me, that we deserve a top class team in SL and that it can be delivered.

| many thanks to fordy and flubber for their considered responses: much appreciated.
i had hoped for news of a new investor, or some comments that confirmed that we’d been advised very strongly not to go to oakwell and hence the ground couldn’t be used against us. i’ve checked the website this morning, and it seems that we openly admit we don’t meet the ground criteria on all counts with what was announced which is still a worry.

| The other big positive was from Alf Davies' speech and he has worked with the RFL in the recent past.
He said that there was a lot of support for Wakefield within Red Hall which is good to know.
The RFL have clearly told us that they don't want us to move out of Wakefield and with that comment from Alf coupled with the moves from the new management to address the issues they do have with us then we are moving in the right direction, and the chance of a franchise is much better than it was 4 months ago.

Really, so your normal way of ingratiating yourself into a new environment is to post demands as to how the place should behave to suit you - interesting method. Not rude just bemused.
Still finding your way around the forum, yeah right of course you are .
I most certainly do use them, no inconsistency in that. My wife is in Unison, she will occasionally at my request buy some discounted tickets that I will then pass on AT COST (usually pints) to folk who otherwise would not have gone and payed full cost - so nothing lost. I always pay full but that's just me I'd have no issues with others who didn't. So what's your problem?

| Just a slight modification to Fordy's reply,
The North terrace isn't just being covered it's being completely demolished, flattened and rebuilt with a roof over it!
Four major points stand out for me,
1. We will have a grade 'B' stadium (very close to Grade 'A') ready to go for the beginning of the 2012 season. THIS IS WHAT THE RFL WERE PROMISED WE WOULD HAVE WHEN WE WERE AWARDED A FRANCHISE IN 2008!
we will have fulfilled that promise albeit by modifying Belle Vue rather than moving to Newmarket.
2. Belle Vue will be ready for business before or at the very worst at the same time as Salfords and St Helens new stadiums. As we know those clubs are largely believed to be out of the firing line because they will have complied with new stadium requirements by the 2012 deadline and so will we.
3. New Craven Park (HKR) is viewed by the RFL as more compliant than Belle Vue solely because of the temporary stands that they erected to improve it pending their permanent improvements.
The upgrading of Belle Vue will far surpass those changes made at New Craven Park and our proposed permanent improvement will also surpass theirs because ours is a completely new stadium at Newmarket.
4. Having delivered on stadia requirements the only blight on our record is Administration, we have already been punished for that and cannot be punished for it again. We will score low on the 'Financial' element of the appraisal but even that will be mitigated by the change of ownership and the stability the new owner has brought.
Other factors in our favour are:
* The ability to spend the full cap next year if we remain in SL, significantly only the seventh club in SL to do so!
* The high profile TV advertising campeign which has gone down extremely well at Red Hall.
* Community Dept, I know it's well known but it really is highly regarded and it's one of the reasons for the next factor on the list
* The RFL do not want Wakefield out of SL! Contrary to popular opinion the governing body have helped Wakefield wherever they can and would dearly love to have a strong Wakefield club competing in SL. What they didn't want was a hamstrung club limping from embarrassment to disaster. I know, straight from the horses mouth at Red Hall, that the RFL see a strong Wakefield, spending the cap and in a new stadium as their best possibility of adding another club to the likes of Warrington, Hull, Sts and the rest.
One final point that's not been mentioned much since last night, the Spirit of 1873 Club will help to finance the creation of the best youth recruitment and Academy set up in the game. It will also help Wakefield Trinity retain it's outstanding home produced tallent, so no more Skerretts to Hull, Kelly's to HKR, Maskills, Spencers or Ellis's to Leeds, Wrights to Wigan, Westwoods to Warrington or Broughs to Huddersfield. How many times have we lamented the loss of these players and wondered how good we would have been if we weren't forced to sell them.
It's really really a good thing that we have this initiative and apart from the weekly draws we just might help to build the home grown team we've often imagined we could have!

No, 2 mega rdaws per year of £5,000
The £3,000 mentioned was because the weekly £500 draw is allowed to roll over if nobody wins and an extra £250 will be added each week up to a maximum of £3,000 then it must be won.

if you stay in SL its a fingers up to Halifax...our stadia is better than yours, and in SL our crowds would be equal if not better.

Based on your last stint in SL, you would find that very difficult to back up.
4398 was your average att over 4 seasons 2000-2003 and three times in 2003, you managed less than 2000.
Wether it will make a difference we will see, but we are giving ourselves the best shout, and i agree i think your ground is better than BV, but as long as BV is compliant or at least more/as compliant than others it matters little.
And it wont be better than Newmarket.

It's worth pointing out that the club web site did host a report and summary of the meeting very shortly after it had finished - another of the little things the club seems to be getting right at the moment. It is actually a useful source of information now, which wasn't always the case before.

I'm afraid I agree with vasty on this one; the OP has started two threads that were rather insulting to a great number of posters - to then cry foul because the forum attack dog bites back is a bit pathetic in my view.
I say again - if you don't want to read numerous pages of opinion, speculation, discussion and argument, don't use an internet forum, use the club website.

i would say if we were given the nod, in the 1st year we would increse home fans at least 1000.
2500 (last years average) to 3500..
and away fans bring 1000 (average) .
so yeah 4500, 1st year. a good starting block to build on.
realistically if you get relagated, how many will be at the revamped Belle Vue? i think you will be supprised as to how many fans will/might decide not to bother paying to watch Championship rugby.
