| just wondering what people think about him.
he got man of the match today, which i found surprising.
personally think he looked good in the centre, but at stand off i dont feel he takes on the line enough or takes the ball close enough to the defensive line before passing.
dont want to bag the guy, as i think he gives everything. just dont feel he is a 6.

I agree with you that he is not creative enough for a six with ball in hand, but then no one else who has played in the halves this season other than BJ on a good day are. I would like to see Wildie given a chance at 6 as he seems to have grown in confidence and isn't afraid to take the line on.

| He's not a 6. Caught out a number of times in possession close to the line. To be fair his team mates were giving him very little options. He's a good make shift but personally I would've played Wildie in the halves over Hyde.
Having said that I understand he had a decent game on Friday so only fair he kept his place.

| unfortunately at wakey if someone has a couple of decent games in a position we tend to make that his position, and ruin him.
as an example sam obst last season. certainly a very good hooker but made the mistake of having a decent game at scrum half against hull kr, at which point we decided we did not need to replace brough when he left. obst never looked the same player again.
hope we dont repeat this with hyde.

| Where does he play then? Centre, full back?
He looked good at 6 vs cas and catalans and is making a decent fist of it. Not sure as yet.
Be interesting to shake it up and see..
So - Wildie
Sh - Moore
Hkr - Rinaldi - int - Lee.
Natural positions and be interesting to see.

| He was very good on Friday night but not so good today but I think he does has potential and lets not forget he is only young.
I think that he is at his best when taking the line on but doesn't seem to have enough confidence in his own ability. I think that if he just believed in himself a bit more he would be a far better player.

Well done to him.

got to agree al, same with wildie, so long as we dont over do it with too many games it will be good for their careers, we over expose them though and that could be it for good. see kevin penny's early career for references.

| He has done well in my opinion...He is a natural 6, it will just take time for him to adapt to this responsibility at SL level.

A fine line indeed, in the old days you'd just chuck em in but they need time imo.
The old saying about making or breaking still holds true.

| I thought he looked better on Friday, but given that today was mostly a 5 metre game, he was never going to look as good.
I'd be working hard in training on getting him to back himself more often - a few times on Friday and today, he could have been over or made more metres, if he'd taken the line on and used a bit of footwork.
I've been impressed with him over the Easter campaign - backed up today after a tough, intense match on Friday night and despite taking some big shots, kept it together and played really well. Good lad.

| Hyde looked good at cas when the pack got on top and started taking us forward. Halfbacks never look good behind a beaten pack which is what we had today against a very strong wigan pack that is full of internaional level players. Hyde will learn and can only get better with time the more he plays the confidence will come.

| Why was he kicking it dead when we were in attacking positions I could understand this if we were 10 - 0 up but we were allways behind. He never asked wigan any questions. The cas game he had a excellent 15minute spell but that was it rest of the game he was poor. Hope Moore as a better kicking game its a strange one as a lot of batley fans say he wasnt a full blown regular. Looks like we have taken a chance on this guy.

I take it you didn't notice that Sam Tomkins was killing us every time he received the ball. Perhaps Hyde should have kicked it through the defensive line more often to give him a bit more chance to make us look stupid.
Do you ever actually watch the games or not?

One in particular where he kicked it dead was inside their 30, they took a quick tap as all our players where out of position and scored not long after possibly in that same set. It is possible to avoid Tomkins and not kick it dead. And kicking it dead is fine if it is a defensive kick not an attacking one.
I actually agree with a lot of what he says about hyde, he wasn't particularly good in the first half against Cas and his kicking can be poor at times, mixed in with some ok stuff.
Not intending to have a go at him just think some people are getting a bit carried away which won't help him, or us for that matter. He's quick, may have potential and I can see why he kept his place after Friday, but Jury still out for me and would like to see Wildie get a shot at 6/7 sooner rather than later although this could just be swapping with Lee just as easily

Some of the batley fans are very bitter thats all. He was dropped after a game a month ago and from that point did not play in the last 3 games out of his own choice not the clubs but the fans wont know this..... Up until that point he was top try and points scorer this season so far, he is the only half they had with a kicking game, he was championship young player of the year as voted by all the other coaches and prior to being ommited after the FEV game, he appeared in every game starting all but two. They feel that because he has used a clause in his contract to go to a SL club that he has let them down and the stories they are bleating are laughable....
