That really is interesting and as you say, could be our lifeline; it would certainly explain a lot, not least the recent relaxing of attitudes of both ourselves and Cas towards playing in our existing stadia next season.

I would be very surprised if the main sponsor for next season isn't Probiz (which I refuse to type in capitals by the way, like the brainwashed Cas fans.) If that does happen, I guess quite a few people will be hoping that he's got bottomless pockets, what with being involved at Cas, Fax, Wigan and the WCC.

It could mean a lot of things, the permutations are many.

The likelihood is that to protect Crusaders SL status, to avoid the controversy of relegating Cas or Wakefield in their place and to be fair to those clubs that have moved heaven & earth to make progress toward a new stadium against a backdrop of economic meltdown, the RFL will not relegate anyone.

I don't think even the RFL would have the brass neck to pull that stunt; I think Fax will get a deal this time around similar to the one that Widnes got last time.

My thoughts exactly.If it is Mr Probiz then he is going to want all his teams in there and also did the RFL say that Fax met the criteria for SL.Just another twist for us to contend with.

Well if this was to happen Im sure lgally we would have a very good case against the RFL.
The franchise system is suppose to be impartial. We already have the expansion clubs excluded and if we could prove that we had a better application than those clubs the RFl would not have a leg to stand on.

It wouldn't surprise me if it is expanded to 15 teams with eventually going to 16. It's a massive IF, but i'd be very surprised if we didn't outscore Fax and therefore would keep our place for now. Hopefully by the end of that franchise we'd be in Newmarket

Perhaps the journalist just got it wrong, they assumed 14 now plus 1 with no relegation means 15, taking no account of 'replacement' and this franchise mularky.

Think thats the most likely scenario. Richard Lewis has already said theres no chance of superleague going to 15 teams.

He also told Quins to buck up their ideas with respect to their crowds a few years back, now it doesn't matter.

Where has he said that? I'm sure i recall him saying it wouldn't be going to 16, but i don't think i've seen anything with regard to 15 team competition

In a radio five live interview with Dave Woods when Widnes were admitted. He was asked whether there was a chance that superleague could be expanded. His reply was 'there is no chance'.

As crusaders go and harlequins the only things they have over wakey are stadia and expansion.

Crowds at wakey while not best in league are far better.

Marketing is better at wakey especially now and before.

Youth - better performing youth teams and more players from Wakey flying around at the top of Sl through to the depths of nl.

Community - again better with school links and Easter camps, tag teams, gala, etc.

As for finance - we beat cru as we have both been in admin but cru still repaying a debt to rfl and not as sustainable as wakey at present. As for quins well not sure here but with their crowds they must be struggling in a self sustaining way but being reliant on a sugar daddy to make up alot is negative. It is ok but on a lesser scale .

So overall if it's looked at as a whole package we should be in a stronger position.

Unfortunately you can have all the stadia you want but if you don't have the support base of fans and haven't been able to raise it over a few years then it doesn't bode well for those teams
